NEWS: Oga’s Cantina Has Been Removed from the List of Reopening Restaurants in Disney World

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will reopen on July 15th.

NEWS: Oga’s Cantina Has Been Removed from the List of Reopening Restaurants in Disney World

Oga’s Cantina

We’re most excited about the return of dining and we’ve got an eye on a few of our favorites. Last week, Disney announced the restaurants that will be reopening with the theme parks on July 11th and 15th. We noticed that most of our favorite Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge dining spots would be opening. Now, though, one has been removed from the list.

As of today, Oga’s Cantina is no longer listed as reopening on the Disney World website.

Returning Dining

The full dining listing is subject to change, as you can see from the disappearance of Oga’s Cantina. Keep an eye on DFB for updates to the reopening list AND for news of when more restaurants will be opening. Stay tuned!

Were you hoping to head to Oga’s when the parks open? Tell us in the comments!

Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, and ‘Juno’ Director Secretly Organize A ‘The Princess Bride’ Remake for Charity

Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, and ‘Juno’ Director Secretly Organize A ‘The Princess Bride’ Remake for Charity

Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, and ‘Juno’ Director Secretly Organize A ‘The Princess Bride’ Remake for Charity. Joe Jonas (The Jonas Brothers, Camp Rock) and wife, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones, X-Men: Dark Phoenix) decided to spend some of their time in quarantine secretly filming a ‘The Princess Bride‘ “remake” in gender swapped roles to help raise funds for World Central Kitchen after being contacted by Juno director, Jason Reitman.

“World Central Kitchen is working across America to safely distribute individually packaged, fresh meals in communities that need support – for children and families to pick up and take home, as well as delivery to seniors who cannot venture outside. WCK is now active in dozens of cities providing over 250,000 fresh meals every day. Traditional safety nets like school feeding programs, city services, and food banks are struggling to meet basic needs. Seniors, who are isolated for their safety, are unable to access meal services. Meanwhile, the country’s hospital workers are more stretched than ever before. WCK is also now activating restaurants to help meet this demand by providing jobs for their staff and meals for those in need. #ChefsForAmerica is making a key connection between people who need meals and restaurant workers and drivers who need to earn a living.”

The celebrity couple is known for their series on Quibi, a short video streaming service, and decided to make the most of their newfound downtime to create some fun content while helping those in need.

Joe and Sophie are not the only celebrities to get in on the project. Jonas, Turner, and Reitman recruited fellow entertainers: Common and Tiffany Haddish, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, Chris Pine and Annabelle Wallis, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Garner, Elijah Wood, Jon Hamm, Beanie Feldstein, Lucas Hedges, Jenna Ortega, Jack Black, David Oyelowo, Keegan-Michael Key, Patton Oswalt, Josh Gad, Andy Serkis, Diego Luna, Taika Waititi and Zazie Beetz to join in on the fun and completed their own scenes from the film.

DVC Moonlight Magic events cancelled for 2020

DVC Moonlight Magic events cancelled for 2020 Moonlight Magic

The Walt Disney company released an update to let DVC members know that the rest of this year’s Moonlight Magic events will be canceled. Disney Vacation Members were notified months ago that the previous Moonlight Magic event nights would be delayed until this summer. The rescheduled dates were listed for the months of June through August, but now Disney confirms how we won’t see the DVC events return at all for 2020.

We have attended some of these Moonlight Magic events in the past and they were quite a blast! You can read the following description to see what was offered during these DVC events:

Enjoy an evening of enchantment, entertainment and more as a theme park becomes your playground.

During a Moonlight Magic event, Members can visit a select theme park for an after-hours celebration. While attendees may get a jump start on the fun by mixing in with the regular crowd earlier in the evening, the real magic happens after the park has closed to the public.

It’s then that privileged partiers can:

  • Enjoy shorter-than-usual wait times on popular attractions
  • Meet some Disney Characters
  • Savor complimentary refreshments
  • Let loose at high-energy dance parties

Hopefully we will return to see these event nights in 2021!

#DisneyMagicMoments: Meet Phoenix, the Zebra Foal Born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

On May 6, the animal care team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge welcomed a new female Hartmann’s mountain zebra foal to the herd. I’m so happy to share with you photos of little Phoenix as she recently made her first appearance on the resort’s Sunset Savanna.

The name Phoenix was chosen by our team as a symbol of strength and renewal. Phoenix was born to mom Peebles, and she’s already quite active and enjoying bonding time with her mother. This is the second Hartmann’s foal born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge this year.

Phoenix was born as part of the Species Survival Plan program, overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The program ensures responsible breeding and genetic diversity of thousands of animal species. As part of this program, Phoenix is the fourth zebra born at Walt Disney World this year, and 13th overall since we began participating in the breeding program.

Please join me in welcoming Phoenix to our Disney family, and follow along on Instagram for more on #DisneyAnimals and our animal care team. We look forward to you seeing her real soon!
