A New Start For Your Walt Disney World Resort Vacation

The thing that makes most Guests excited about their Walt Disney World vacation is the moment they head underneath those much loved Walt Disney World archways welcoming Guests to the resort. It is truly the first sign (literally) that you’ve arrived and the magic of your trip is about to begin. Soon, those entryways will look just a little bit different than you’re used to!

Gone will be the purples, greens, and reds that the current welcomes feature! Instead, the archway will see many shades of blue and golds, matching both the colors of the Cinderella Castle makeover at the Magic Kingdom, as well as the color change that is currently taking place on the Magic Kingdom Auto Plaza.

These refreshed gateways are all part of the transformation of The Most Magical Place on Earth in preparation for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.

What do you think of the update?

Halloween Crowd Levels at Walt Disney World

This weekend will have the longest park hours since Walt Disney World re-opened in July. Extended park hours are a signal from Disney that they are expecting higher crowds. Hollywood Studios is the only park without extended park hours. This is a bit strange as it is the park with the highest wait times. Expect more tricks than treats this year.

Magic
Kingdom
 EPCOT Hollywood
Studios
Animal
Kingdom
Fri, 10/30 9 am – 8 pm 11 am – 9 pm 10 am – 7 pm 8 am – 6 pm
Sat, 10/31 9 am – 9 pm 11 am – 10 pm 10 am – 7 pm 7 am – 6 pm
Sun, 11/01 9 am – 8 pm 11 am – 9 pm 10 am – 7 pm 8 am – 6 pm

Disney may be using this weekend as a test to see if they can increase capacity for the upcoming holiday season.

Touring Tips

  • Arrive early, take advantage of the parks opening their gates 30-60 minutes before official park opening time.
  • Take advantage of the longer park hours, and take a mid-day break.
  • Use a Touring Plan.
  • Avoid peak dining times.
  • Avoid EPCOT on the weekends.
  • Avoid the Magic Kingdom on Halloween Day.

PHOTOS – Enjoy EPCOT at Night!

There are quite a few drawbacks to visiting Walt Disney World on a weekend right now. We’ve seen wait times that are 20 – 30 minutes higher on average in each of the parks over the weekends as compared to during the week. This is especially true at EPCOT, which is very popular with Florida residents for a quick visit over the weekend. But, it does mean sometimes hours are longer on the weekends with higher crowds. And with a later closing time comes more time to enjoy the beautiful setting that evening brings. This weekend our team enjoyed some time in EPCOT as closing was later than during the week.

Come take a stroll with us and enjoy a few of the lovely sights. There’s something enchanting about evenings at EPCOT with the colorful lights and soft glow that seems to surround you.

We are in the parks daily so we can ensure our tools and resources have up-to-date information. We highly recommend visiting the parks first thing in the morning when they open, and during the last hour of operations of the day. You can access our Lines app and use our Touring Plans to know exactly which attractions to visit at what time, in order to save hours of waiting in line. Become a TouringPlans Subscriber today.

When was the last time you got to enjoy an evening stroll at EPCOT? What’s your favorite place in EPCOT to visit at night?

Snack Locations at Disney Springs for Kids Who Need Something RIGHT NOW

Parents have all been there at one time or another. Your kid has a case of the hangries and you need something to feed them RIGHT NOW. And while Disney Springs has a variety of dining options, a sit-down location won’t work, and even some quick service locations can end up with lengthy lines. (Fun fact: I still haven’t eaten at Chicken Guy because I’m line-adverse and have never seen it without a line that has made me walk away.)

For those times when every second counts, here’s some choices at Disney Springs for quick snack options..

West Side

Starbucks (With Mobile Order from the Starbucks app as needed; also available at Marketplace)

Although lines for drinks at Starbucks can get lengthy, usually if you’re just ordering food, you order will come up fairly fast. If you arrive and the line looks lengthy, you can alway mobile order at this location through the Starbucks app to save some time in line. When it comes to a quick kid-friendly snack, take a look at the protein box options, which contain items like cheese, fruits, or vegetables.

The Landing

Erin McKenna’s Bakery

With its focus on dairy/egg/soy/gluten-free baked goods, you can almost convince yourself that a cookie there is health food! (That’s what I tell myself anyhow. . . ) Grabbing an oatmeal raisin or chocolate chip cookie can be a quick way to satisfy a temporary hunger crisis, and the baked goods there are delicious.

Town Center

The Daily Poutine

The servings at The Daily Poutine are certainly meal-worthy, but if you’re looking for a snack that the family can split, here’s my trick for you. Order the Classic Poutine but have them leave off the gravy. Suddenly, you’ve got a bowl of French fries and cheese curds — a really great finger food snack! Of course if you are a poutine purist and want it with gravy, it still will satisfy kid cravings — just make sure to get a fork and some napkins.

The Marketplace

Sunshine Churros (also available at the West Side)

With a variety of churros from ones dipped in Nutella to the classic traditional cinnamon flavor, and even seasonal varieties, a churro is a quick snack that is sure to please. Its Marketplace location, just outside of World of Disney, means it is a great place to stop after your Disney shopping spree.

Honorable Mention: Wetzel’s Pretzels (Marketplace and West Side)

Although the Marketplace location sometimes gets a bit of a line and seems to be fairly slow overall, there’s something wonderfully addictive about those warm pretzels. A serving of “Wetzel Bitz” (little pretzel nuggets that you can get with or without dipping sauces) really hits the spot.

Do you have any secret selections for snacks at Disney Springs? What’s your go-to when you need a snack right now? Let us know in the comments.
