#DisneyMagicMoments: Check Out Splendidly Spooky Moonrise Views from Around the World

When the sun sets, the moon’s silvery light can create the most enchanting – and breathtaking – views at our Disney parks and resorts!  Whether it’s moonbeams illuminating Spaceship Earth at EPCOT or framing up a tropical paradise at Aulani – a Disney Resort, each destination offers its own inspiration.

Tonight, our friends from across the globe are sharing some favorite Disney spooky moonrises to end your day.  Take a look at some Monday night “moon” magic:

Full moon over Spaceship Earth

Our special look at moonrises begins at the Walt Disney World Resort where a beautifully rounded moon delivers a bewitching glow to Spaceship Earth at EPCOT.

Moon over the beach at Disney's Vero Beach Resort

At Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, the water seems to dance in the moonlight during a starry night at the Disney Vacation Club location.

Moon over Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa

High above paradise, the moon shines brightly during a not-so-spooky night at Aulani – a Disney Resort.

Sunset on Halloween decorations at Disneyland Paris

At Disneyland Paris, the moon ushers in festive lights with decorations from Main Street U.S.A., to Sleeping Beauty Castle during the Halloween season.

Moon rise of Disney's Hilton Head Resort

A spooktacular moon is majestically mirrored in the water at another Disney Vacation Club location – Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort.

Big Thunder Mountain at night at Disneyland Park

At Disneyland Resort, beams of moonlight were captured adding a magical glow to surroundings.

Glowing pumpkins on a Disney Cruise Line Ship

And some not-so-spooky Halloween surprises were spotted during a moonlit night aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship.

We hope you enjoyed this special series of spooky moonrise views to end your day.  Be sure to check back for more Disney Halloween surprises by visiting our new “Everything Halloween” page.

Magic Kingdom Finally Gets More Quick Service Dining with the Return of Friar’s Nook

Finally, there is one more place to grab a quick bite at Magic Kingdom. It’s clear that reservations and attendance have increased at Magic Kingdom, as evident in our Crowd Calendar, and the Observed Wait Times on our site. With this increase in attendance it is frustrating trying to have a meal at any Magic Kingdom quick service location, as only three counter service restaurants are open. Thankfully, Friar’s Nook in Fantasyland has returned!

Inside Fantasyland, Magic Kingdom’s busiest land, you’ll find Friar’s Nook – it’s around the corner from Fairytale Hall. If you’re looking for a quick lunch, this is a good option, and the menu is all tots and brats. There are two down sides to Friar’s Nook. First, there is no mobile order option since it is such a small location. Second, seating is very limited.

Our readers give Friar’s Nook a 89% thumbs up rating. It is ranked number 37 out of 109 quick food options at Walt Disney World. Generally service is fairly quick, and the value is fair. It’s the lack of seating that holds this location back.

Our team visited yesterday and enjoyed the regular Brat and Tater Bites. For $10.79 a Bratwurst sausage is served on a thick roll. Normally the Brat is topped with warm sauerkraut but you can ask for it on the side or not it all, if you wish. The roll would be better if it were a pretzel roll, but it’s still good and holds up to the hearty Brat, which is well flavored and seasoned with fennel and other spices.

Pro tip – ask for some cheese sauce on the side. There’s no charge and it is divine for dipping the tater bites.

If there are not open tables available at the small seating area, you can walk over to the New Fantasyland entrance and have a seat along the castle -styled walls. It is not ideal, but it is great for people watching.

Last year I tried out the plant-based version of the Brat and really enjoyed it. I also tried the Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tater Bites, which was satisfying, but the Buffalo sauce was a little heavy. It’s good to have one more quick dining option inside Magic Kingdom, and one with a decent plant-based option too.

We’re also pleased to report that the Spring Roll Cart inside Adventureland has reopened as well. It’s good, and necessary, to see a few more places to grab a quick bite become available in Walt Disney World’s most attended theme park.

This assortment includes items featuring classic Disney characters, our spookiest favorites, and Disney Parks around the world, just to name a few…

Mickey and Friends Bring New Food Items to Chef Mickey’s on December 16

Mickey Mouse and his best pals are returning to breakfast at Chef Mickey’s restaurant in Disney’s Contemporary Resort on December 16, bringing some new items to the menu inspired by their favorite dishes.

Mickey’s “Celebration” Pancake

Along with traditional breakfast favorites, you will be able to try the new Mickey’s “Celebration” Pancake, featuring whipped cream, celebration sprinkles, shimmering pixie dust and more.

“Loaded” Potato-Cheese Casserole

For something a bit more savory, we’re adding a new “Loaded” Potato-Cheese Casserole topped with smoked bacon crumbles and chives.

Goofy’s Banana Bread French Toast

Last but not least, Goofy’s Banana Bread French Toast will combine unique flavors of banana bread baked in zesty orange-scented French toast batter, topped with Espresso-mascarpone cream, toasted bananas and chocolate crumbles.

If you can’t decide on which new item to try, you’ll be able to taste all three as part of an all-you-care-to-eat family style feast with other traditional breakfast favorites.

When Mickey and friends return, the experience may look a little different than the last time you visited, but you can still expect to smile, wave and make unforgettable memories with some of your favorite characters as they parade through the restaurant in their chef’s best.

Reservations for Chef Mickey’s character breakfast will open on October 17, based on availability. In addition, Disney Resort hotel guests can make reservations up to 60 days in advance plus the length of their stay (up to 10 days). For more information, please click here.

PHOTOS: Renovated Walt Disney World Saratoga Springs 1-Bedroom Villa

With DVC points to use or lose, my husband and I made a trip to Walt Disney World. During this trip, he been working remotely and won’t be going to the parks. I convinced him that Disney’s Saratoga Springs resort, with easy access to the restaurants at Disney Springs, was the best resort for our needs on this trip.

I have stayed at Saratoga Springs resort more than a dozen times, but my husband has never been with me on those outings. He was sold on the location, but was slightly skeptical of the musty-looking, horsey decor he saw in photos of the Saratoga rooms. It was a wonderful surprise when we walked in to see that we were in a newly renovated room, with updated furniture and fixtures, new flooring, modern appliances and cabinet finishes, and brighter fabrics.

For a look at the old version of the decor take a look at the photos in this Saratoga Springs overview.

Here’s a tour:

BEDROOM

The bedroom includes a king-sized bed, television, side chair with ottoman, dresser, and nightstands. There is now room underneath the bed to stow suitcases. The ceiling fan is now a sleek, three-blade model, and there are copious USB and power outlets on either side of the bed.

LIVING ROOM

The living room area has a flat screen television (larger than the one in the bedroom), a couch with a pull-down queen-sized bed, a trunk-like coffee table (on wheels for easy movability) that converts into a table, and a dining table with a bench and two side chairs. There’s also a fold-down bed under the television.

KITCHEN

One-bedroom villas have full kitchens, complete with a refrigerator, oven and cooktop, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, and related dishes and cookware. A nearby space holds a full-size washer/dryer.

BATHROOM

The bathroom has three separate spaces: a room with just the toilet, a room with the shower stall and a sink, and a room with a tub and larger vanity with a sink. There have been real changes in the bathroom amenities. The tub no longer has jacuzzi-style jets, there is a rainforest-style showerhead, there are large dispensers of toiletries, and a magnifying mirror has been added.
