Now more than ever, friendships both near and far are an important part of our lives as much as staying true to ourselves. Today, we are thrilled to share an all-new global celebration called Mickey & Friends: Stay True inspired by the Sensational Six — Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto — and their iconic friendships. Countless adventures and almost a century’s worth of milestones and friendship have cemented the Sensational Six as a symbol of loyalty, kindness and hope around the world.

Starting this week and culminating on July 30, which just happens to be International Friendship Day, we are calling on fans across the globe to give a shout out to their friends for “staying true” through social media channels, free digital activations and more, using #MickeyFriendsStayTrue.

Ready to join in on the fun? Stay tuned to the @MickeyTrueOriginal Instagram handle where we’ll provide fans with fun ways to get involved — each inspired by a different member of the Sensational Six — every day throughout the week. Also, be sure to use the #MickeyFriendsStayTrue hashtag to share your stories of friendship, some of which might end up being featured on Disney’s social platforms and on “Good Morning America.”

Updates to the Virtual Queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

One of the biggest problems when you have a hot newish attraction that was already difficult to ride before the pandemic is how you handle this attraction, with physical distancing in place. That has been the problem with the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Back when the park reopened on July 15, the attraction once again offered the virtual queue system, yet this time, Disney decided to stagger the times in which boarding passes were released. The big problem (and granted it was a big problem before all this physical distancing was required) is that the boarding pass system fills up almost immediately.

Due to the demand, Disney will only be offering an opportunity to join the virtual queue now at 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. These two opportunities are intended to give guests more flexibility in their planning, and are also a way to further support physical distancing.

Here’s more about what you need to know about being able to obtain a boarding pass:

  • Make sure you have the My Disney Experience app. Once you enter the park, you’ll need to log in to your account at one of the three distribution times.
  • Once you have logged in, select “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Virtual Queue” on the home screen. You will be able to view the current status and learn the next steps for joining the virtual queue.
  • The app will indicate when there is no availability for a specific distribution time. Like before, backup groups will be available.
  • As long as your My Disney Experience account is linked to park tickets for you and the others in your group, you can enroll everyone in the virtual queue at the same time. Guests can only enter the virtual queue once per day.
  • Guests will want to make sure push notifications are turned on for My Disney Experience. This will allow you will be alerted if your group is called to return.
  • Guests will have up to an hour from the time of the alert to go to the entrance of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance to be able to ride the attraction.
  • Joining the virtual queue does not guarantee the ability to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
  • If you have any questions or need assistance with joining the virtual queue, Cast Members at Guest Experience Team locations throughout the park are available to assist.

Currently, this is the only attraction where Guests will need to “reserve” their spot in line. For other attractions at Walt Disney World Resort, the regular standby queues are in use. Fastpass+ is not available.

Oh, what a happy ray of sunshine I feel like I’ve been waiting months for! Today Disney Cruise Line has released the Fall 2021 itinerary lineup!

We’ve got a lot of good old faithful itineraries to look forward to in Fall 2021. The Magic will have a relaxing Transatlantic sailing post-Europe season and will return to the Big Apple on September 18, 2021. She’ll visit the pink sand paradise of Bermuda, along with a trip up to Canada, before repositioning to Miami via San Juan. From Miami she’ll finish out the year with a variety of Bahamian and Caribbean cruises.

The Wonder will start the fall on the West Coast with Baja and Mexican Riviera cruises. She’ll take her ever popular cruise Disney Cruise Line Fall 2021 Itinerary Announcement! through the Panama Canal on November 15, 2021, and then will port in Galveston for Bahamian and Caribbean sailings.

The Dream remains the perpetual queen of consistency, sailing 3- and 4-night Bahamian itineraries from Port Canaveral.

Also staying in Port Canaveral, the Fantasy will largely keep to 7-night Easter and Western Caribbean sailings with a few different itineraries sprinkled in. She’ll visit the Bahamas on a 3- and 5-night itinerary (this one includes a double dip at Castaway Cay!), and there’s a great 8-night Eastern Caribbean that is sure to be a great trip.

You can check out the full list of dates and itineraries here.

Booking begins on Monday, and will be as follows:

  • Monday, July 27 for Platinum Castaway Club Members (guests who have sailed with Disney more than 10 times) and Golden Oak residents.

Virtual Queue Update for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Beginning July 24

UPDATE: We are adjusting the virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Beginning Friday, July 24, opportunities to join the queue will be available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Since Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopened, we’ve received questions about why the virtual queue fills so quickly each day.

As you’ve also heard here on the Disney Parks Blog, new health-and-safety measures include limiting theme park attendance and implementing new measures to promote physical distancing. This includes requiring extra space between groups in queues and on attraction vehicles. With all of this in mind, we are not able to accommodate as many people on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance as we could before we implemented physical distancing.

For guests with a Disney Park Pass reservation to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the attraction will continue to have limited availability accessible through the My Disney Experience app virtual queue. Starting Friday, July 24, guests will have an opportunity at either 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. to join the virtual queue. These two opportunities are intended to give guests more flexibility in their planning, and are also a way to further support physical distancing.

Here are more details to be aware of before you arrive:

  • First, make sure you have the My Disney Experience app. Once you enter the park, log in to your account at one of the distribution times (10 a.m. or 2 p.m.).
  • Once you have logged in, select “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Virtual Queue” on the home screen. You will be able to view the current status and next steps for joining the virtual queue.
  • The app will indicate when there is no availability for a specific distribution time. Some guests may join backup groups.
  • As long as your My Disney Experience account is linked to park tickets for you and the others in your group, you can enroll everyone in the virtual queue at the same time. In order to give as many guests as possible the opportunity to join the Resistance, each guest can enter the virtual queue no more than once per day.
  • Make sure push notifications are turned on for My Disney Experience so you will be alerted if your group is called to return. You’ll have up to an hour from the time of the alert to go to the entrance of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
  • Guests who are enrolled in the virtual queue will be able to see an estimated return time indicating when they may be called back to experience the attraction. This time may change throughout the day, so continue to check the app for updates. Also, the tip boards around the park will display the boarding groups that have been called back.
  • Please note that joining the virtual queue does not guarantee the ability to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

If you have any questions or need assistance with joining the virtual queue, cast members at Guest Experience Team locations throughout the park are available to assist. While you wait for your virtual queue group to be called, you can enjoy other experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios including our newest addition, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
