José Andrés and Lin-Manuel Miranda Have Teamed Up with Coca-Cola to Provide an AMAZING Donation!

Hamilton has made its way to Disney+ (and our holiday weekend plans are to eat some pie and watch the musical on repeat).

Although July 4th is a holiday to celebrate, it’s also a great time to give back to communities who have been affected by our current situation. And, a few Disney affiliates are teaming together to provide a HUGE donation to those in need!

Coca-Cola has collaborated with Hamilton‘s creator Lin-Manual Miranda and the World Central Kitchen Founder (and Jaleo‘s creator in Disney Springs) José Andrés to donate $1 million to the World Central Kitchen.

The donation will help fight food insecurity around the world, especially in communities who have been disproportionately affected by the global health crisis and social injustice. World Central Kitchen will be able to serve 100,000 meals in the United States and Mexico (and other countries in the works), help about 150 local restaurants, and rehire up to 1,400 employees.

You can read more about Coca-Cola’s donation here and watch Lin-Manuel Miranda and José Andrés talk about the World Central Kitchen below!

We’re proud to see such an amazing donation given to people who need it the most! If that isn’t a way to celebrate our country, we don’t know what is!

Disney Animals: Wildlife Heroes –Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, National Geographic and Disney Channel Join Forces

Disney Channel stars Ava Kolker and Christian J Simon from “Sydney to the Max” teamed up with the Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team and National Geographic to learn about the animals that live at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.* Ava and Christian had the unique opportunity to get up close to some of the most incredible animals on the planet and learn how the animal care experts take care of them. These previously recorded pieces showcase Sumatran tigers, zebra longwing butterflies, giant swallowtail butterflies and prehensile-tailed porcupines.

Ava and Christian worked with Dawn, an animal keeper, to prepare some food-based enrichment items for the Sumatran tigers and then delivered these to the Sumatran tigers at the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Check out the video below to find out what happens:

Ava and Christian got up close to a prehensile-tailed porcupine while learning from Conservation Manager Dr. Zak and Maria, an animal keeper, about what makes these animals unique. They even met a baby porcupine, called a porcupette!

Dr. Zak shared with Ava and Christian why butterflies are so important and provided the chance for them to interact with zebra longwing butterflies and giant swallowtail butterflies in the Pollination Garden near Conservation Station at Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

Together we can make a positive impact by protecting the places these and other animals call home. To check out more of Ava and Christian’s animal adventures, click here to visit the Disney Magic Moments collection in the DisneyNOW app

New Disney Phone Cases Are Convenient and Costly

Your phone goes everywhere with you, and now Disney has released a new line of phone cases that make it even easier for you to keep your phone with you at all times. These new phone cases feature a detachable, and adjustable, strap. This strap can go on your shoulder, or when fully extended, can cross your body.

Besides featuring a convenient strap, the designs are top-notch too. There’s a Mickey Mouse Popcorn style which is a clear base with lifelike popcorn inside. Another looks like a Mickey Mouse-themed camera with a magical castle in its lens. Stitch has his own true blue case, and my personal favorite is the Mad Tea Party-themed case that has a strap and can hold two cards.

Each case is $44.99 which is one of the highest price tags I’ve seen on a Disney phone case, though Otterbox cases run in that range too. We spotted these cases at World of Disney at Disney Springs. They do not seem to be available at shopDisney online.

Will one of these phone cases come along with you soon?

Heads Up! Here’s What ⚠️DOESN’T⚠️ Count as a Mask in Disney World!

Now that face coverings have become a part of our everyday lives and local health officials have mandated them in both Orange County, Florida, and Anaheim, California, it’s more important than ever to get CRYSTAL CLEAR on what constitutes an acceptable face covering before visiting Walt Disney World and, eventually, Disneyland. We’ve done the research and learned that not all masks are created equal — nor are all face coverings acceptable.

Heads Up! Here’s What ⚠️DOESN’T⚠️ Count as a Mask in Disney World!

Rainbow Mickey Face Mask

We’d hate for your to go through the effort of traveling to Disney World and arriving at the park gates, hotel entrance, or Disney Springs only to find that the face covering you brought is not allowed. So we’re breaking down exactly what DOES NOT count as an acceptable face mask at Disney World right now.

There’s a huge huge variety of face masks out there — different styles, sizesmaterials — you name it. By now, you probably have a favorite. But, what if the face mask you’ve grown accustomed to doesn’t get the green light at Disney World? Better to find out NOW rather than when you get there!

Heads Up! Here’s What ⚠️DOESN’T⚠️ Count as a Mask in Disney World!

Cast Members

Check out these 7 helpful tips for wearing a face mask at Disney World!

When Do You Have to Wear a Mask at Disney World?

Disney World is requiring guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members to wear face masks at all times with just a few exceptions. You can take off your mask when swimming or eating and drinking (either seated in a restaurant or on-the-go).

But you should definitely approach your time at Disney World with the expectation that you’ll have your mask on the vast majority of the day when you’re not in your hotel room.

So Which Face Coverings Aren’t Acceptable at Disney World?

Disney World has detailed very specific guidelines on their website about what they consider an acceptable face covering. These two types don’t make the cut and won’t count as a face mask at Disney World.

Bandanas

Face masks must fit snugly around the nose and mouth to be accepted at Disney World. While most gaiters and face masks with elastic or tie-on straps will do the job nicely, bandanas have been deemed by several cast members we’ve spoken to to be too loose to provide adequate coverage.

Monsters Inc. Bandanas

There are ways to turn your bandanas into acceptable face masks and you don’t have to be a seamstress to do it! Learn how here!

We should point out that although we’ve seen many people wearing gaiters at Disney Springs, Disney World’s website clearly states that face coverings must be “secured with ties or ear loops.” To play it safe, if you’re going to wear a gaiter, make sure you choose one with ear loops (or add ear loops to the one you like).

Click here to learn more about Disney World’s proposed “relaxation zones” where guest might be allowed to briefly remove their masks inside the parks!

Face Shields

These plastic face coverings are becoming more common and some Cast Members are being issued them when they return to the parks. They’ve been popular with the medical community for some time since the shield acts as a protective barrier for the eyes as well as the nose and mouth. However, when worn without a mask, face shields are not an acceptable form of face covering at Disney World.

So if you want to wear a face shield for extra protection, they’re allowed — but you have to ALSO be wearing an acceptable mask underneath it.

Since Disney World is private property, they can deny any guest service if that guest does not comply with their policies. We understand it might take some extra convincing (and maybe a little bribery!) to get your 2-year-old to wear a mask at the parks all day, but we’ve got some tricks up our sleeve to help you with that!

See which face masks are the most comfortable to wear during a long day at Disney World here!
