During a trip to New Orleans, Walt Disney purchased a mechanical bird. When he returned to California, he gave the bird to his Imagineers and challenged them to learn how it worked. This was the beginning of audio-animatronics at the Disney Parks and, as Walt saw it, a new medium of animation.

Originally, there were plans for a Disneyland restaurant where audio-animatronic birds would entertain guests. When that was deemed too distracting, the restaurant concept evolved into a show today known as Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. The original version debuted at Disneyland in 1963, and its signature song “The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room” was written by the legendary Sherman Brothers.

Walt Disney World’s version of the Enchanted Tiki Room debuted on the Magic Kingdom’s opening day and was titled Tropical Serenade. The attraction was re-imagined as The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management) in 1998 starring Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from The Lion King.

After a small fire broke out in the attraction’s attic, the show thankfully reverted back to its classic status and was renamed Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room in 2011.

Haunted Mansion Dooney and Bourke Bag is Tomb Sweet Tomb at Magic Kingdom

Just before Walt Disney World temporarily closed its gates in March, a new backpack arrived that Haunted Mansion fans will love. With Magic Kingdom now reopened we found this Dooney and Bourke Haunted Mansion Backpack inside Main Street Jewelers. It has a black base with jewel tone colors. Beloved scenes and characters from Haunted Mansion in a cartoon interpretative style make up the pattern.

Donney and Bourke is actually one of the few designer bags I care about. I have a Disney Cruise Line crossbody bag from a decade ago that I wear regularly and it is still in fantastic condition. So keep that in mind when you see the enormous $318.00 price tag for this backpack.

It does not appear this Dooney and Bourke Haunted Mansion Backpack is available online. Are you dying to get your hands on this designer backpack?

Disney Parks Blog Presents Disney Paper Parks Designed by Walt Disney Imagineering, Part 3

Looking for a special way to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Disneyland? Download part three of Disney Paper Parks to add Sleeping Beauty Castle to the already released activity sheets of Main Street, U.S.A. and the “Magic Happens” parade!

As you make your paper version of Sleeping Beauty Castle using scissors, glue and other simple supplies, feel free to use your imagination to add new elements and proportion your castle as you envision it. The activity sheets even include fireworks!

As a reminder, we recommend printing the sheets at their actual size for best results, not scaling them to fit the page. We also recommend adult participation or supervision for those with little ones.

We look forward to releasing more printable, 3D activity sheets of Disney Paper Parks, designed by talented Imagineers Amy Young and Stephanie Jazmines for the Disney Parks Blog. Share how your Disney Paper Parks are coming together with the hashtag #DisneyMagicMoments!

By downloading Disney Paper Parks, you acknowledge and agree that these materials are being provided to you for personal, non-commercial use.
