Here’s How Disney’s PhotoPass Service Will CHANGE When Disney World Reopens

Disney World is moving towards a reopening, and there are going to be a lot of new protocols in place.

Disney is making a lot of experience updates to the theme parks in the interest of keeping guests and Cast Members healthy and safe. With the new Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system and cancellations abound, it can be hard to keep up. Well, now, Disney has updated the way that the PhotoPass service will function in the reopened parks.

Disney posted a new update to its website that talks about the ways that the PhotoPass Service will change. The goal of the changes is to promote physical distancing, cleanliness, and reduced contact so that PhotoPass interactions are safe and enjoyable for guests and photographers.

For one, PhotoPass photographers will no longer be able to take pictures or handle guests’ personal devices (i.e. cell phones and cameras). So, if you want that picture with Cinderella Castle, you’ll either need to purchase Disney’s PhotoPass picture or have someone from your party take the photo separately.

For PhotoPass photo ops that have props, they will be cleaned thoroughly between guests. For some props, guests will be asked not to touch them. Instead, the PhotoPass photographer will help to snap the perfect picture through the best angles and perspective.

Finally, the website asks that guests have their MagicBands or cards ready for the photographer to quickly scan and link your photos to your account. The goal is to keep as much distance as possible between Cast Members and guests.

Stay tuned with DFB for all the latest updates on Disney World’s reopening procedures!

Disney Is Suspending Park Hopping At Walt Disney World

Disney Is Suspending Park Hopping At Walt Disney World walt disney world

Walt Disney World is reopening in 3 weeks and with that come some changes to be able to enjoy the magic again.

One of the recent ones is the temporarily suspension of park hopping tickets. In order to comply with the reduced capacity at theme parks, this option will not be available for now.

If you have a Disney reservation with park hopper tickets, these are the options available for you:

  • Ticket extension: You may use your current date based ticket by September 26, 2021 with the existing add-on options, should the options return by that date.
  • Ticket modification: Resort packages with tickets may be modified or cancelled. To discuss your options please contact the Disney Reservation Center at 407-934-7639 beginning June 22 or contact your travel professional.
  • Ticket cancellation: If you don’t want to use your ticket, you also have the option of cancelling your ticket or package. To discuss your options please contact the Disney Reservation Center at 407-566-4985 beginning June 22 or contact your travel professional.

As of now there’s no specific date as when this option will be back but Disney hopes it will be soon.

In the meantime, why not enjoy that extra money and treat yourself with your favorite Disney snack!

Walt Disney World will be reopening on July 11th for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, and July 15th for Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

NEWS: Disney World Just Released Dates for Annual Passholder Previews

Disney World is set to begin a phased reopening of the theme parks on July 11th, but we won’t all have to wait that long.

NEWS: Disney World Just Released Dates for Annual Passholder Previews

Magic Kingdom

Between limited capacities and the new theme park reservation system, we’re wondering IF we’ll be able to get into the parks when they open. On the other hand, some Annual Passholders in the Disney World area will be able to get into the parks BEFORE July 11th! Disney just announced the dates for the Annual Passholder previews!

The screenshot below is taken from the Walt Disney World website. Note that while we were aware of the significance of June 22nd and June 26th (you can read more about the theme park reservation that’s mentioned for those dates here, by the way), July 9th and 10th are the dates listed for Annual Passholder Previews at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom theme parks!

Disney also states that: “Weekday Select, Theme Park Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus and Premier Passholders will have the opportunity to register for a special preview at Magic Kingdom park or Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park on July 9 or 10.”  Annual Passholders should be on the lookout for e-mail invitations with registration details SOON.

Reservations will be required and limited, and available on a first-come, first-served basis. An eligible activated annual pass is required for Preview registration. Also note that if eligible Passholders would like to bring a guest, the guest must also have a valid Weekday Select, Theme Park Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus or Premier annual pass. Additionally, your guest must be included on your Family & Friends list (in your Disney account) and have opted to share “All My Plans” with you.

We’ll post when we have more info about the Passholder Previews and we’ll be reporting in from the events as well! As always, you can count on us for the latest updates!

Cruise Lines Potentially Suspending Sailings Through Summer

Cruise Lines Potentially Suspending Sailings Through Summer cruise line

The Cruise Line International Association announced today that they are extending the suspension of cruise operations at U.S. ports until September 15, 2020. Disney Cruise Line is a member of the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA).

The CDC’s No Sail Order, which expires July 24, has not been extended as of now. Check out the official announcement from CLIA below:

“Due to the ongoing situation with the U.S. related to COVID-19, CLIA member cruise lines have decided to voluntarily extend the period of suspended passenger operations. The current No Sail Order issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will expired on 24 July, and although we had hoped that cruise activity could resume as soon as possible after that date, it is increasingly clear that more time will be needed to resolve barriers to resumption in the United States.

Although we are confident that future cruises will be healthy and safe, and will fully reflect the latest protective measures, we also feel that it is appropriate to err on the side of caution to help ensure the best interests of our passengers and crewmembers. We have therefore decided to further extend our suspension of operations from U.S. ports until 15 September. The additional time will also allow us to consult with the CDC on measures that will be appropriate for the eventual resumption of cruise operations.

This voluntary suspension applies to all CLIA members to which the No Sail Order applied (vessels with capacity to carry 250 persons or more). CLIA member cruise lines will continually evaluate the evolving situation and make a determination as to whether a further extension is necessary.”

As of today, Disney Cruise Line has canceled sailings in Europe through October 2, in Canada through September 2, and all other itineraries through July 17. We expect DCL to announce more cancelations soon.

You read that right, folks!! Disney has just confirmed characters will VERY MUCH be present when the parks reopen! You’ll just be seeing them in a different format than you may be used to!

Disney’s use of the word “cavalcade” reminds us of the Cursed Calvacade we’ve seen at Disney Villains After Dark parties or the Rainy Day Calvacade that gets dispatched on soggier days! This is a term Disney often uses for smaller parades at Magic Kingdom!

Rainy Day Cavalcade

But what’s this?? Disney also says characters will be sailing the waterways of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and proceeding along World Showcase promenade at EPCOT?! There will also be motorcades on Hollywood Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios?! Umm, yeah…it looks like Disney World is promising there will still be a lot of excitement until their traditional offerings resume.
