Resort Rundown: Disney’s Yacht Club Overview

Voyage aboard a finely appointed yacht with a touch of Disney magic. Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts are wonderfully seaside-themed resorts that neighbor each other, and share some amenities. Disney’s Yacht Club brings a sophisticated air to the seashore. Polished brass, well-oiled wood floors, rich blue tones; the decor is bold and refined, without being stuffy. With one of the best pools on Disney property and a long list of great features, Disney’s Yacht Club receives high marks.

Location

The Yacht and Beach Club Resorts are part of the EPCOT Resorts area. It is smack dab in between EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You can walk to either theme park, walk to neighboring resorts, and have access to over 15 resort restaurants. Disney’s Fantasia Gardens mini golf is a reasonable walk from this resort too. This resort area is one of the most loved areas in which to stay at Walt Disney World. It can be hard to pick a favorite out of the hotels in this neighborhood.

Resort Rundown: Disney’s Yacht Club Overview autumn clouds over disney's yacht club resort
Yacht Club from Crescent Lake

Rooms

Disney’s Yacht Club has regular hotel rooms and suites. The interior of the rooms and suites are full of nautical themes and decor. Dark blue curtains and blue accents on the headboards are complimented by soft cream furnishings and dark woods. Polished brass continues the nautical feel. The rooms have deluxe features, including quite a bit of shelving and storage.

Elegant wall art inspired by sailing, ships, and other nautical themes adorn the walls. There aren’t many Disney touches, even subtle ones. Most rooms have two queen beds, though one king bed is available in select rooms. Some rooms also have a daybed in them.

There are three view types: Standard, Garden / Woods views, and Water views. Speaking of views, you can use the awesome TouringPlans Room Finder to help you narrow down the exact room location you would like. You can plug in your preferences and find rooms that match your needs. Then when you make your reservations and check in you can request your desired rooms. This tool is free to use.

Club Level

The Regatta Club Lounge at Yacht Club is as not as highbrow as the name implies. There isn’t much to the seating area, no outstanding features. A balcony adds to the amenities of the lounge itself. Regular rooms, as well as suites, are available to stay in as part of the Club Level experience. Club Level rooms include: evening turndown, secured key access to the Club Level lounge (serving refreshments 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily), complimentary newspapers in Club Level lounge, and health club access.

Dining

One of the biggest advantages of Disney’s Yacht Club is the variety of dining options. Not only does Yacht Club have its own variety of dining, but right next door Disney’s Beach Club does as well. Plus, you can easily get to the dining at Disney’s Boardwalk as well as the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels.

Just off the Yacht Club lobby is Ale and Compass Lounge, which went through a big transformation not too long ago. A great beverage menu, with light bites, is offered from lunch time until 10:00 p.m. For a full dining experience, the Ale and Compass Restaurant has become very popular following its transformation, and a variety of grab-and-go items are available too.

The signature dining restaurant at Yacht Club is the Yachtsman Steakhouse. One of the most elevated dining experiences at any Disney resort, you’re sure to have a fantastic dinner here.

When you’re splashing the day away at Stormalong Bay, you can visit Hurricane Hanna’s Grill for great food and poolside drinks. Hurricane Hanna’s is popular with many Disney fans thanks to its beautiful views and great menu. In-room dining is also available.

Resort Rundown: Disney’s Yacht Club Overview
Yachtsman Steakhouse

Securing dining reservations at popular full service restaurants like Yachtman Steakhouse can be frustrating and time consuming. You can use the TouringPlans Reservation Finder to help you secure dining reservations and save time. Simply select your desired restaurant, then plug in your desired date and time or meal period, select to be notified either via email or text message, and voila! This incredible tool is available with or without a TouringPlans paid subscription, but you do need to create, or have, a TouringPlans login.

Pools

This nautical-themed resort is home to two pools – one quiet pool and one feature pool that is the envy of all other Disney resort pools. The themed feature pool is Stormalong Bay and it has three great features that make it the most sought-after pool experience at a Disney resort. First, there’s the sandy beach that leads into the water itself. Then, there’s the waterslide that starts off at the top of a shipwreck. But arguably best of all is the lazy river. This feature pool sits right in between Beach and Yacht Club, and is available to guests of both hotels, and absolutely no one else.

Resort Rundown: Disney’s Yacht Club Overview

Recreation

Being in a beach and boardwalk themed area, there are lots of ways to have fun here. Go for a blissful run, jog, or walk around the entire boardwalk and even up to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Head down to the marina to rent a variety of watercraft and enjoy Crescent Lake. There’s even volleyball and tennis courts, fishing excursions, nightly campfires, and movies under the stars. And don’t forget, Disney’s Fantasia Mini-Golf is within walking distance too. There’s so much to do!

Transportation

There are three modes of transportation at this resort. Being so close to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there is a delightful boat transportation that is shared with the neighboring resorts. It takes less time to walk to the theme parks, but if you’re looking to save your energy and rest your legs then the boat transportation is a very attractive feature.

You can also walk to the EPCOT Disney Skyliner station just outside the park gate and head to Disney’s Caribbean Beach station then transfer to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Yacht Club is less than a five-minute walk from the Skyliner station. For the other theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs, there is continuous bus transportation. One main bus station is located out front of the lobby.

Convention Center

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort offers meeting and event space. You’ll often find conventions and weddings at this resort.

When Disney World theme parks reopen on July 11th, there are going to changes in MANY ways.

Your Next Ride in Minnie Van Ride in Disney World Could Be Very Different — Here’s How!

Walt Disney World

Fireworks, parades, and character meet-and-greets will be suspended when the parks reopen, and some modes of Disney transportation won’t be in use. For instance, Minnie Vans will be unavailable until further notice as Disney World.

Although Minnie Vans will not be used right away, Lyft’s new procedures will most likely affect guests’ rides when they do resume service. Since Lyft is a direct partner with Disney, guests on property will have to follow the ride-sharing company’s guidelines put in place for health and safety.

Lyft asks that guests wear face coverings at all times and stay home if they are feeling sick. Before touching anything, passengers should sanitize their hands and avoid leaving trash in the car.

In order to create space between the driver and guests, anyone who decides to travel in a Lyft-approved vehicle should sit in the backseat. The windows should be kept open as often as possible to increase airflow in the car as well.

While there’s no timeline surrounding when the Minnie Vans will be back up and running around Disney World property, these new Lyft guidelines are will likely be in place for Minnie Van passengers when they do. 7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

We have to hand it to Disney, they definitely know how to get our attention!

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

As a company, Disney does a lot of things exceptionally well. And one thing at which they seem to consistently excel is capturing our attention (and imagination)! Here are seven times that Disney’s marketing efforts had us totally captivated!

That Cryptic Leadup to the Launch of D23

In 2009, Disney launched D23: The Official Disney Fan Club and held the first biennial D23 Expo in Anaheim. D23 was officially announced by then-CEO Bob Iger in March of 2009, but the company had been dropping hints about the launch of something for months leading up to the reveal!

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

D23 Gold Membership

Disney conspicuously dropped the number “23” seemingly everywhere before the big unveiling, and fans tirelessly debated the significance. Just when the anticipation was reaching its peak, Iger dropped the news — and it was confirmed that while the “D” stands for Disney, of course, the “23” is in reference to 1923, the year in which the company was founded. So after months of anticipation and speculation, Disney fans were rewarded with their own club!

Check out the merchandise from last year’s D23 Expo!

Build Up to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge first opened in Disneyland on May 31, 2019, and in Disney World on August 29, 2019. But this was an event that had been hyped up way before the Disneyland Galaxy’s Edge welcomed its first travelers!

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Millennium Falcon

Disney had long touted the next-level immersion that guests would experience on Batuu. With experiences like Oga’s Cantina, Droid Depot, and Savi’s Workshop, guests could create their own custom Star Wars fantasy, right within the middle of a Disney park!

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Oga’s Cantina in Disney World

And it’s no surprise that Disney had to plan for serious crowd control at the openings. In Disneyland, reservations were needed to enter Galaxy’s Edge for the first few weeks the land was open, and Disneyland Resort hotel guests were given priority access into a virtual queue for a “boarding pass.”

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Galaxy’s Edge Opening Day in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

And since the land’s headlining attraction, Rise of the Resistanceis now open on both coasts, the Galaxy’s Edge hype has continued to soar. Even many guests who aren’t the biggest Star Wars fans can’t wait to experience the immersive new land!

One More Disney Day

If you were given an “extra” day of the year, would you prefer to spend it in a Disney park? Well, that’s the thinking on which Disney capitalized for the “One More Disney Day” promotion in 2012! Advertised as an “extra day of magic,” both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom were open for 24 hours straight, from 6AM on February 29 to 6AM on March 1st.

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

One More Disney Day ©Disney

This was the first time that both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland park were open for 24-hours straight, plus it was an incredibly rare opportunity for guests to be in the parks overnight.

And as if the unique experience wasn’t enough, in the One More Disney Day Sweepstakes, Disney chose one winner a day from January 1st through February 29th to receive a vacation for four in either Disneyland or Disney World — so 60 families also received a free trip during this promotion!

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle

Between the chance to experience the parks at night AND the potential for a free vacation, One More Disney Day definitely had our full attention!

These were the restaurants that were open during One More Disney Day!

Monstrous Summer at Disney World

In 2013, Disney World capitalized on several major openings AND an anticipated new Pixar film to bring us the “Monstrous Summer” promotion. The headlining new offering was New Fantasylandthe largest expansion in the history of Magic Kingdom park. This brought additions such as Under the Sea — Journey of The Little Mermaid, the enhanced Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Be Our Guest Restaurantand more!

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Be Our Guest

Plus, with the film premiere of Monsters University, Disney also threw in some scary surprises! The monorail became the “Monsterail” with an MU-inspired design. And we even got to see Mike Wazowski and Sulley projected onto Spaceship Earth!

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Mike and Sulley on Spaceship Earth!

Between some awesome permanent additions and some limited time monster magic, “Monstrous Summer” was, shall we say, a real scream!

Year of a Million Dreams

The “Year of a Million Dreams” promotion took place at both Disneyland Resort and Disney World Resort from October 1st, 2006 to December 31st, 2008. Yep, it was so popular that it extended well past its original “year” mark!

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Magic Kingdom

The main focus of this campaign was the Disney Dreams Giveaway, in which theme park guests were randomly selected to win one of many prizes. While many of the prizes were small, like an extra FastPass, the luckiest of guests could win an entire trip, or a stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite!

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Cinderella Castle Suite ©Disney

The Cinderella Castle Suite is so exclusive that guests actually can’t purchase a stay there — they either have to be invited by Disney or win a contest! That made the potential of winning this prize even more exciting!

Here’s the SUPER EXPENSIVE way you can take a peek inside the Cinderella Castle Suite during your park day!

“Frozen 2” Teaser Trailer

We remember watching the Frozen 2 teaser trailer for the first time back in 2019. It starts with Elsa staring out at a dark and choppy sea, before she sprints directly towards the waves. The music builds as she uses her ice powers to batter her way through the water — and then a powerful wave pushes her below the surface. Cut to scenes of a concerned Anna leaping into the unknown and Kristoff and Sven galloping with a pack of reindeer. In the final scene, the gang faces a misty forest and suddenly Anna grabs a sword and swings it towards…cut to black. UM, WHAT??

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Frozen Ever After

The teaser trailer was purposefully vague and action-packed to get us (and countless other Disney fans!) buzzing about what happens to these beloved characters in the sequel to the one of the most popular Disney films of all time. Disney did release additional trailers with more backstory closer to the film premiere date. But their marketing campaign clearly worked — as of January 2020 Frozen 2 became the highest-grossing animated movie of all time!

Check out our review of the Frozen Ever After Dessert Party in Epcot!

The Disney Vault

Before the days of Disney+, The Walt Disney Company had another ingenious method for keeping its movies relevant — the Disney Vault. With this system, Disney would only sell its movies on home video for a limited period of time, before the movie was put “back in the vault” and consumers would have to wait years for it to be released again.

7 Times Disney Proved They Could Literally Market ANYTHING.

Snow White

This allowed Disney to create a sense of scarcity for their films, and generate hype over the re-release of movies that were decades old. Yup, the Disney marketing team definitely knows what they’re doing!

Here are 11 Disney movies to watch when the news has you feeling overwhelmed.

What can we say, Disney sure has a flair for capturing our attention and sparking our imagination! These promotions, campaigns, and creative releases make it exciting to be a Disney fan. And we can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

It seems like there’s always something special happening at Disney World!

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

Mickey Mouse

But even though some three-day weekends and holidays tend to bring heavier crowds to Disney World, you really need to know about these more unique events if you’re trying to avoid lots of people!

We’re going to take you through a full year of Disney World and tell you what the crowds are like! Of course, we’ll be mentioning some holidays you already have circled on your calendar, but we bet there are plenty you DON’T know about!

And remember: right now, Disney World is planning to reopen with limited capacity. That means that even though you won’t see wall-to-wall people like you did during holiday weeks and weekends in previous years, it may mean that getting a reservation to get into Walt Disney World this year and potentially next year may be more difficult during these timeframes we’re about to highlight for you.

So while you won’t see CROWDS, it may be harder to get in. So time to plan ahead, my friends, and grab those park reservations ASAP for these much more popular times!

January

New Years Day (and the week or two around it)

Ah, New Years Day — when anything and EVERYTHING is possible! We’re not sure about you guys, but we ALWAYS try to make a resolution with our future selves to visit Walt Disney World in the new year! The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go ?

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

Magic Kingdom

And as much as 2020 had other plans for us this year, things at least started off on the right foot! Holiday crowds tend to stick around until well after New Years Day, so if you’re looking to head to Disney World in January, you might want to avoid that first week of the year!

Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

runDisney events are also a big draw at Disney World with the biggest race of the year happening in January.

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

The 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is scheduled for January 6th through January 10th and is typically held around the same time each year. You can expect the parks and hotels to be packed with runners while some roads may be closed off in the early morning hours (meaning Disney transportation and car traffic can be slowed to a snail’s pace). This full weekend of runs is a HUGE draw for many enthusiasts and the parks can get pretty busy with all the guests.

We hope you got your tickets already because the 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend sold out in RECORD time!

Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts

While the dates for the 2021 Epcot International Festival of the Arts haven’t been released yet, the celebration in 2020 ran from January 17 through February 24, 2020

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

Festival of the Arts Strawberry Shortcake

You can typically expect this festival to begin a few weeks after the New Year begins. It doesn’t necessarily mean more crowds overall, but can result in Epcot being much more popular.

See photos and menus from this year’s Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts HERE!

Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend

Usually the third weekend in January, crowds briefly resurface due to many schools and businesses being closed for the long weekend. This can be enticing for families planning trips, so expect the parks to be more popular the weeks surrounding the holiday

Cheerleading and Youth Sports Season

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex hosts many juvenile championships annually. While a few of them happen throughout the year, the largest concentration of events takes place in Disney World from January to May.

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

While thousands of cheerleaders and athletes (along with their entourages) show up to compete, they usually don’t hit the theme parks until their teams are eliminated. Guests staying at Value or Moderate resorts (which are a popular option for these crews) will likely notice this the most — the teams tend to practice in the open areas of the resorts and can be quite loud. You’ll definitely notice it too when you’re going to jump in line for a ride and suddenly 50 cheerleaders file in front of you!

February

Super Bowl

In 2021, the Super Bowl is scheduled for February 7th, and it’s happening at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, not too far from Disney World, so brace for folks trying to make a longer trip out of their visit!

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

Patrick Mahomes at Magic Kingdom’s Super Bowl Parade

The Super Bowl usually falls around the first week of February. While we don’t know what the crowds will be like in 2021 for A LOT of reasons, the Super Bowl generally tends to draw quite a lot of people. Don’t forget — the MVP of the winning team historically shouts out the famous line of “I’m going to Disney World!” then flies to Disney World the very next day for a special celebration! This can mean BIG crowds looking to catch a glimpse of the MVP!

Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Another runDisney event takes place in February bringing runners right back to Disney World!

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

©Disney Cinderella Medal

This race typically falls mid-February. For 2021, the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is set for February 18th through February 21st! You can expect a similar situation as the previous month’s race — some closed roads early in the morning and slower transportation with LOTS of folks flocking to the parks afterward with their medals proudly displayed!

President’s Day Weekend

The third weekend in February is the perfect time to stop by the Hall of Presidents. You’ll see attendance level spike in the weeks around this long weekend due to many schools being out.

U.K. Spring Break

Our friends from across the pond love to spend their time off at Disney World!

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room

If you find yourself in Disney World towards the end of February, sometimes your trip will coincide with the U.K.’s Spring Half Term — the equivalent of our American schools’ spring break! With international travelers accounting for 20% of guest attendance, many of which are from the U.K., this can result in a boost in park popularity!

March

U.S. Spring Break

Speaking of spring break, while it seems the kids just went back to school, many spring breaks around the United States kick off around mid-March with some schools starting well into April.

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

Spring Break 2020 shirt

Spring break crowds can be absolutely INSANE and aren’t for the faint of heart! If you’re looking for a casual family trip to Disney World and thinking of visiting at this time of year, consider THIS your warning! Spring Break is totally doable, but you may have to adjust your expectations due to the number of folks who want to join you.

Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival

There’s definitely a BIG draw to coming to Disney World in March. This is when Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival normally kicks off!

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

Topiaries at Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival

This event typically begins in the first week of March. While the 2021 dates haven’t been announced, this year’s fest started on March 4th (and was supposed to run until June 1st!). Like other Epcot festivals, this isn’t enough to necessarily raise crowds across the board, but expect more people in Epcot, especially around weekends when locals tend to visit.

St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is always celebrated on March 17th each year.

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

St. Patrick’s Gear

Since guests don’t typically get this date off from school or work, the holiday isn’t known for attracting crowds. And while there usually isn’t too much happening throughout the parks, you’ll find a rollicking good time happening at Raglan Road Irish Pub in Disney Springs! Their Mighty St. Patrick’s Day Festival usually kicks off the weekend near St. Paddy’s day and includes a menu of special Irish offerings as well as music and dancing! So on St. Patrick’s Day proper, you may see quite a lot of people at Disney Springs — and some may have indulged a bit.

April

Easter

Hip hip hooray! It’s the Easter parade! Easter can fall anywhere from March 22-April 25th, depending on the year. We’re sticking it under April since, in more cases than not, that’s when you can expect it. In 2021, Easter falls on April 4th.

Epcot’s World Showcase also holds an Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt which lasts throughout the spring! Keep in mind that crowds can still be pretty high when Easter hits due to Spring Break weeks across the country.

Star Wars Rival Run Weekend

Get ready to make the jump to lightspeed! The next big runDisney race of the year typically falls in mid-April. Although the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend was scheduled for April 17th through April 19th this year, it was canceled due to the temporary closure.

While the dates haven’t been posted for 2021’s races yet, we can most likely expect the Star Wars Rival Weekend to take place sometime in April! Same drill as other runDisney weekends — expect higher than usual crowds around this weekend visiting for the races!

Spring Dapper Day

Dapper Day is a celebration that started over in Disneyland. Folks like to get all dressed up in their best vintage attire and head to the parks for a day of stylish refinement! It’s a veritable sea of pompadours and petticoats!

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

Dapper Day Sunglasses

This typically takes place the last weekend of April or the first weekend of May. You might feel a little out of place standing in line with your Crocs and tank top next to so many fancy-dressed people, but it’s a fun experience seeing so many Disney fans getting dolled up! This event takes place twice a year, with the other Dapper Day scheduled in the fall. Expect slightly higher crowds in Magic Kingdom that weekend.

Click here to learn more about Dapper Day in Disney World!

Earth Day

Earth Day falls on April 22nd each year. It isn’t typically a super-crowded day at the parks, but Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been known to offer some special treats and entertainment in celebration of Mother Earth!

Earth Day just so happens to be Animal Kingdom’s birthday! If you want in on the festivities, expect higher crowds in Animal Kingdom on that day. The other parks should be at their typical crowd levels.

Crowds!!!

Memorial Day occurs the last Monday of May and, like other three day weekends we’ve seen, expect higher crowds bookending the weekend. With children getting out of school for the summer around this time, that means crowds won’t be dying down anytime soon following this date!

June

From June through August you can expect heavy crowds at Disney World since these months coincide with most schools’ summer breaks.

Like Dapper Day, this is another big event that’s unofficially associated with Disney World. Disney gets in on the celebration by featuring rainbow merchandise, rainbow treats, and more. This celebration ISN’T relatively new either — it’s nearing its 30th anniversary! We don’t find crowds get that much heavier than normal during Gay Days (but keep in mind it IS still the middle of the summer, after all!).

July

When the Fourth of July rolls around, you can expect some of the parks to get SO crowded that they reach capacity!

August

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom

Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival

The big-gun of the Epcot Festivals kicks off typically in late August and runs straight through to mid-November

Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival is a huge draw for out-of-towners and locals alike. Expect fairly consistently busy Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays for the length of the festival. But over the past few years, we’ve seen the first week and the last week be quite busy, indeed!

September

Labor Day Weekend

Held the first Monday in September, Labor Day marks the unofficial “end of summer.” Even though most kids JUST went back to school, many schools and businesses have off for this long weekend. You can expect a boom in crowds around the Labor Day holiday.

Crowds are notably lighter than the bustling summer months and the temperatures are finally starting to dip from “sweating through two shirts a day” to just “kinda sweating through one shirt a day.” The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go ? Keep in mind RIGHT around Halloween, crowds can pick up a good bit.

November

If you’re one of those folks who puts your Christmas decorations out right after Halloween, you’re in good company — Disney switches from spooky to merry practically overnight in the first days of November!

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parties usually begin in early November well before Thanksgiving! Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom also kick off the festive time of year early!

If you time your visit right, you might even see Disney filming its Christmas specials in early November — many guests flock to the parks to see some of their favorite stars!

Toy Soldiers During the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

We LOVE Christmas at Disney World, so even though it’s still warm outside, we can never have too much holiday fun at Disney World.

Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend

We’re up to the next runDisney event on the calendar! This is running we can get behind though — running for FOOD! (Well, kinda.) The first weekend of November is typically when the Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend takes place. This race is timed up to fall near the end of the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot.

That means you can eat and drink as much as you want since you’ll be burning off all those extra calories jogging, right? The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go ? At least that’s our working theory! With this festival timed often so close to Halloween, it’s common to see the burst of crowds from Halloween hang out a bit longer to stay through for the Marathon weekend!

Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic

While many guests know about Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival, there’s also a SECOND Food & Wine Festival happening at Disney World in November (or late October, depending on the year)!

2019 Food & Wine Classic

The 2020 Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic was scheduled for November 6th through November 7th this year and was to be held in the causeway between the two hotels, but it’s been canceled for the year.

Check out some of the tasty food we tried at last year’s Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic here!

Jersey Week

Typically in the first week of November the state of New Jersey has a couple days off for a fall break. Days off school means LOTS of Jersey families plan ahead to visit Disney World during this otherwise relatively slow time of year.

Disney Springs Sign

Crowds will swell a bit during this timeframe, but since November isn’t a hugely popular month for Disney World, you won’t notice it that much. But if you’re in New Jersey, this may be the perfect time to plan your trip!

Veteran’s Day Weekend

Another busy, BUSY weekend! Veteran’s Day is on November 11th, but the holiday is typically observed on the Monday or Friday closest to the date (which makes for a nice, long weekend!).

Dapper Dans on Veteran’s Day

Crowds will be higher due to guests capitalizing on the extra day off, but you will see some lovely tributes to our war heroes including a special Flag Ceremony at Magic Kingdom along with the Dapper Dans dressed in their red, white, and blue barbershop best!

Check out what Veteran’s Day was like at Magic Kingdom last year here!

Dapper Day

Dapper Day returns in mid to late November (the dates vary each year so be sure to check when it’s planned if you’re planning to visit!). Just like in the spring, you’ll have a chance to see guests in their Disney best! This takes place over a weekend and typically doesn’t result in that big of a crowd increase. Put on some red lipstick or whip out your best Fedora and strut your stuff!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November every year, which means Disney World offers special menus for folks who want to dine on traditional American fare!

Epcot During the Holidays

Crowds tend to spike around Thanksgiving due to kids being off school. Many families travel to Disney World to celebrate the holiday! Expect the whole week to be a mini-preview of what the Christmas crowds will be like!

Pass the stuffing! Check out some of the Thanksgiving menus Disney World’s restaurants offered last year!

Epcot’s International Festival of the Holidays

Typically in the last week in November we see the start of Epcot’s last festival of the year — the International Festival of the Holidays!

Guests can stroll around Epcot enjoying holiday specialties from around the world, learning about other cultures’ holiday celebrations, or catching one of the first performances of the Candlelight Processional for the season. This performance features a celebrity narrator telling the story of Christmas accompanied by a huge choir — and it’s a BIG draw for guests!

December

With so much Christmas excitement already happening, it’s hard to imagine we haven’t even made it to December until JUST NOW! But while you’ll find lots of holiday treats and good cheer, you’ll also find lots of cheerleaders!

Pop Warner

The Pop Warner Super Bowl and National Cheer and Dance Championships is a major youth football and cheerleading event that’s held annually at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. This event typically takes place the first or second week of December

Pop Warner Merch

This event is HUGE and draws lots of crowds. Expect higher crowds than normal during this time (the first half of December is otherwise relatively calm!). This may also be a bad week to consider staying at a Value Resort due to the participants staying predominantly in these resorts.

Christmas (and the weeks around it)

It’s Christmas! Well, at least it is in our MINDS! The parks get so crowded in the weeks surrounding Christmas that sometimes that they actually have to turn guests away!

Totally Tomorrowland Christmas

But to see all the beautiful Christmas decorations, fireworks, and Stitch in a Santa costume, it’s a sacrifice we’re willing to make!

New Year’s Eve

And back to where it all began, we’ve truly come full circle in our year of Disney “holidays”! All four of the Disney World theme parks celebrate New Year’s Eve with their own unique countdown!

The Ultimate List of Disney World Dates You NEED to Know Before You Go

Magic Kingdom Fireworks

New Year’s Eve is one of the BUSIEST days in Disney World. Magic Kingdom and Epcot historically have been known to hit maximum capacity on these dates. The parks stay open late to do their own countdowns and have extra celebrations in many locations! We can’t think of a more fitting way to ring in the New Year!

Click here to learn more about planning a December Disney World vacation!

We hope we’ve shed some light on Disney World’s more mysterious events to help you plan your next trip to the parks a little better. Disney World can be enjoyable ANY time you choose to visit, even on the busiest days. If you’d prefer to know what’s coming so you can plan around the crowds, we’ve got you covered! If visiting with lower crowds means we get to go on Space Mountain and Pirates one more time, we’re all about dodging those busier park days!

And remember, even though this year might be a little bit different, the popularity of the parks will likely follow these general patterns.

Have you. ever been to Disney World on an unexpectedly busy day? Tell us what your experience was like in the comments below!
