Disney Cruise Line News — Week of June 30, 2020

Sponsored by Storybook Destinations

Ahoy, mateys! I’m Heather, and I’ll be bringing you the up and coming on all things Disney Cruise Line. Welcome back again this week. Let’s see what’s new in the DCL world!

Here’s some good news – no new cancellations this week! Hooray!!!

And here’s some more good news if you have a cruise booked to sail before March 31, 2021. DCL has introduced a flexible cruising policy, which will allow guests to change the date on their cruise up until 15 days prior to the sail date, at no penalty! Of course there are some restrictions – this is only a date change, not a refund potential. Once you’ve changed the date to one in the future, there’s no changing your mind and going back to the original sail date. This policy will cover guests with previously booked sailings, as well as those that book new sailings by August 31, 2020. One major caveat – if you do move to a new date, and then need to cancel, the amount of the cancellation fee will be based off the original sail date.

This is pretty great news for those with an upcoming cruise who may not be so sure what they want to do. During these times of cancellations, paying for your cruise in full by the balance due date was a bit of a gamble. If you are paid in full and Disney cancels, that 125% future cruise credit is a nice tradeoff. But what if your cruise will indeed be headed out, and suddenly you aren’t feeling on board? How great that you can make that date change without the hefty monetary penalty! Kudos to Disney on initiating this policy!

Port Canaveral may not have guests and ships coming and going right now, but all is not dormant over on the coast. Cruise Terminal 8, probably better known as the DCL terminal, is bustling with construction as the planned improvements are full steam ahead. The Disney Cruise Line Blog posted a drone video of the work being done that was shared during the latest Board Disney Cruise Line News — Week of June 30, 2020 of Commissioners meeting. That canopy coverage for arriving guests is going to be oh so wonderful!

Speaking of wonderful…how about a recipe for a most wonderful and beloved DCL dessert? I’ll give you three guesses what it is….just kidding, you probably don’t need three! Of course it’s the one and only chocolate souffle! If you try your hand at making it at home, let us know how it turns out!

Thanks for joining me again this week. “Sea” you next time!
