Many Disney Park enthusiasts are still sad over the news about recent layoffs. A significant number of Disney entertainers and musicians, such as the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra, are being dismissed. The wonderful group shares a photo of their last time gathered together at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. The orchestra group played at the Disney Resort for a total of 32 years.

The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra has released the following statement on their Facebook page:

“We are truly overwhelmed, very grateful and humbled at the massive number of heartfelt comments and sentiments you all have shared. We heard that someone started a petition to bring us back and there are over 1800 signatures on it so far. We can’t thank you all enough for showing your love and support… Unbelievable! Thank you so much! We need to clarify… our last day of performances, October 3rd, will be at the Theater of the Stars at Hollywood Studios… NOT the Grand Floridian. We have not played at the Grand Floridian since March 18th! For those of you asking… we do have CDs available. Please message us for details. We have so many great memories of our time at the Grand Floridian… our thanks to you all!”

Victoria and Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa may be temporarily unavailable, but that does not mean that we cannot enjoy some of the incredible food they have to offer.

You can make the Stilton Cheesecake from Victoria and Albert’s right at home!

We are so excited that to share this recipe from a AAA Five Diamond Award^® recipient restaurant.

It is especially great for those who have always wanted to try some of the food without paying the price.

Now, this recipe can either make 48 individual mini cheesecakes or 1 large cheesecake. You can decide which is more convenient for you!

Ingredients 

Shortbread Crust

• 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup softened butter (packed), cut into small pieces

Filling

• 3/4 cup Stilton cheese, rind discarded and cheese crumbled
• 1 1/4 cup or 10 oz. cream cheese, softened (packed)
• 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon sour cream
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

For Crust:

1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
2. Blend together flour and sugar.
3. Add butter and blend until mixture resembles coarse meal. It will not form a dough!
4. Press into the bottom of 48 buttered mini muffin cups (1 3/4” x 1”) or into buttered 9 1/2-inch springform pan and spread evenly and press into bottom.
5. Bake for 7-9 minutes on the middle rack of the oven until pale golden.
6. Cool in pan on a wire rack.

For Filling:

1. Beat together crumbled Stilton, cream cheese, and sugar in a large bowl with mixer on low speed.
2. Beat in eggs (add one at a time) beating well after each addition. Add flour.
3. Beat in sour cream and vanilla until just blended.
4. Pour filling over cooled crust in mini muffin cups or springform pan.
5. Bake cheesecake in a water bath in the middle of the oven for 30 minutes until puffed and pale golden around the edge.
6. Transfer to a rack and run a knife around the edge of the pan to loosen. Cool completely, about 2 hours.
7. Chill covered, until cold, at least 4 hours, before serving.

We may have waited 300 years for the new ColourPop Cosmetics Hocus Pocus Makeup Collection, but…

…it looks like we’ll have to wait one more day!

The limited edition ColourPop Hocus Pocus Makeup Collection was set to be released today, and ColourPop Cosmetics even shared, via their Instagram, that the collection would be live at 10AM PST. But, they then later posted that the release had to be delayed because “Shopify was unable to support the amount of traffic” for the collection today. Seems like there were a lot of witches out there ready to cast a spell on this makeup and make it theirs!

Now, ColourPop has officially announced that the new collection is set to be released tomorrow, October 1st, at 10AM PST. What a marvelous way to start off Halloween month!

Having a churro from Disneyland is a rite of passage and something everyone should try to do at least once (or many, many times in our case!).

And although much of Disneyland Resort remains closed due to the global health crisis, Downtown Disney is open and they, luckily have churros.

These churros are at the California Churro Co. at Downtown Disney. And we just noticed a favorite flavor has just popped up: pumpkin spice! Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a pumpkin spice churro, but still, we had to give it a try.

The Pumpkin Spice Churro is a plain churro covered in pumpkin spice sugar and served with cream cheese frosting. We’ve previously raved about the pumpkin spice churros at Disney World, so how does the West Coast version fare? Well, long story short, it was pretty yummy!

Although the pumpkin flavor is pretty light, this was a great tasting churro. Also, the cream cheese frosting is the bee’s knees.

Having the cream cheese dipping sauces really compliments the pumpkin spice flavors. The churro is one of the gourmet flavors currently being offered at Downtown Disney for $6.95. We will be on the lookout for more fall foodie finds in Downtown Disney so stay tuned!

Let me tell you, Central Floridians are excited today. We’re experiencing our first cool day of the season. Temperatures have been in the low to mid 70s (degrees Fahrenheit) today and we are loving it! This also means that the animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are more active. It is a great time to visit the park, especially Kilimanjaro Safaris. Climb aboard a safari truck and take a look at the wonderful animal photos we captured on today’s ride.

For two brief months in my life I was a safari driver for Kilimanjaro Safaris. It was one of the coolest experiences of my life being able to see these incredible animals day in and day out. I loved it whenever there was a rare chill in the air, especially first thing in the morning or at the end of the day. The animals interact with their environment in a much different way; they tend to be more curious. It is also a great time to ride when it rains. The animals behave differently (just like humans behave differently) in the rain. If you’re ever in Animal Kingdom when it rains make a beeline for the safari, even if you’ve already ridden it that day.

When riding the safari, it’s good to listen to the safari driver for animal sightings, but it is also good to look around yourself. Sometimes the best views of the animals can be behind you or off to the side. Keep your eyes open and be aware. Snapping photos can be great, but I have found that having memories of the ride itself become more cherished than the photos.

Right now there are no FastPass+ options for any Disney attractions, but Animal Kingdom continues to be the quietest park at Walt Disney World, especially during the week. Our team waited 17 minutes at 11:30 a.m. Midday is typically one of the busiest times for this attraction. The lowest wait times are usually an hour or two before closing. The animals also tend to be active at the end of the day as they are accustomed to heading to their backstage barns at the end of the day and are encouraged to do so through positive reinforcement.
