The ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Reboot Still In Limbo Over Creative Differences

The ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Reboot Still In Limbo Over Creative Differences

The ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Reboot Still In Limbo Over Creative Differences. Disney fans who grew up watching Lizzie McGuire were ecstatic to hear the series would be getting a reboot on Disney+ in 2020. Most of the original cast was set to return including Adam Lamberg (David “Gordo” Gordon)Hallie Todd (Jo McGuire), Robert Carradine (Sam McGuire), and Jake Thomas (Matt McGuire), and several hints that other characters from the hit show would make cameo appearances through out the series.

Unfortunately for fans, production came to a screeching halt after original show runner Terri Minsky left the project claiming “creative differences” as the primary reason for leaving the show. Both Minsky and the shows lead, Hilary Duff, voiced concern over Disney+’s content rules and wanting to explore more adult themes and content within the series as Lizzie navigated her 30’s. I mean, she’s not in middle school anymore, so this does make sense. shrugs

Well, needless to say, Disney+ did not share the same sentiment, and thus forced production to shut down while a new storyline and direction is being hashed out for the series. In the meantime, Duff and Minsky have been very vocal about wanting the series to be moved to sister streaming service, Hulu.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Hulu’s head of original content, Craig Erwich, shared that there have not been any discussions about the series making the move to Hulu despite the actors plea. “I appreciate her fandom,” Erwich said with a grin—but he added, “We have not had any conversations with Hilary Duff around her show.”

“Lizzie is turning 30, and for me, you know she was everybody’s best friend, and she was there for such pivotal moments in their pre-teen life, and entering your 30s is an extremely big deal and I think it’s just the right time for her to step back in and to have her go along with you in your 30s,” Duff shared in a recent interview. “All of the fun times and all of the big monumental moments and all of the challenges you are faced with. I just thought that there was such opportunity there for her to be grown up and for her to be there for women again.”

“Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series,” a Disney spokesperson told TVLine. “After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the series.”

Production is currently at a standstill while Disney finds a new direction for the series, and it is very possible reshoots will be ordered. It is unknown when production will return and if any of the previously shot footage will be used in the series. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Disney+!

Disney Quietly Adds Fantastic Four to Disney+ Roster

Disney Quietly Adds Fantastic Four to Disney+ Roster

Disney Quietly Adds Fantastic Four to Disney+ Roster. Since the acquisition of Fox by Disney, many fans have wondered when Disney would begin streaming Fox titles on their new streaming service, Disney+. Some of the most anticipated films include the Fox created Marvel movies such as the X-Men films yet others like the Deadpool films have been deemed inappropriate for the streaming service. Though most of the X-Men films are currently streaming via HBO and HBO Max, Disney did quietly add Fantastic Four (2015) to the Disney+ library this week.

The synopsis for the film share on Disney+ states, “A young genius builds a portal to another dimension with help from friends and colleagues but an accident leaves one stranded and the others altered with unusual powers Four years later, the stranded victor returns as a megalomaniacal conqueror and the others must put aside their differences to stop him as the Fantastic Four.”

The movie is a surprise addition to the Disney+ roster and only received a minor announcement via the “New to Disney+” category on the Disney+ home page. Very few featured films have slipped through announcements before being surprisingly added to the streaming service and though it performed poorly in theaters it’s still an interesting take on the iconic characters from the Marvel Comics.

In a recent interview, actor John Krasinski shared that he would love to play Reed Richards for Marvel Studios. More recent designs of Reed Richards within the comics are looking very twin like to The Quiet Place and The Office actor. Rumors spread like wildfire that he was already cast in the role without auditioning after it was revealed Krasinski’s wife, Emily Blunt, was approached by representatives from Marvel Studios while on set for Disney’s The Jungle Cruise, with news spreading that Emily and John were offered the roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storm for the remake of Fantastic Four that would be the first F4 movie tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Neither Disney nor Marvel has yet to confirm any of these rumors, but it seems that Krasinski and Blunt seem rather rehearsed in their responses to questions about the potential casting, and have refrained from answering Yes or No so far… Both actors seem eager to work with Marvel Studios, especially after Krasinski came VERY close to playing Captain America in the MCU, previously, and Blunt being very active with Walt Disney Studios with Mary Poppins Returns and The Jungle Cruise.

The One And Only Ivan Based on The Bestselling Book to Premiere Exclusively On Disney+ One and Only Ivan

The Walt Disney Studios announced today that the heartwarming adventure “The One and Only Ivan,” an adaptation of the bestselling, award-winning book about one very special gorilla directed by Thea Sharrock, will premiere exclusively on Disney+ August 21, 2020.

The film, which was previously scheduled to be released theatrically by The Walt Disney Studios, is an unforgettable tale about the beauty of friendship, the power of visualization and the significance of the place one calls home. “The One and Only Ivan,” which comes to the screen in an impressive hybrid of live-action and CGI, is based on Katherine Applegate’s book, which won numerous awards upon its publication in 2013, including the Newbery Medal.

“The world has changed in a heartbeat. People all over the globe have shared important, life changing experiences in ways we have not seen for a century,” said Thea Sharrock. “In response to this, I am so happy that we can share Katherine Applegate’s delightful and original story, ‘The One and Only Ivan’ with the world this August on Disney+, bringing some joy through this unique movie of true friendship, inspired by a true story.”

The film features the voices of: Sam Rockwell as the gorilla Ivan; Angelina Jolie as Stella the elephant; Danny DeVito as Bob the dog; Helen Mirren as Snickers the poodle; Chaka Khan as Henrietta the chicken; Mike White as Frankie the seal; Brooklynn Prince as Ruby the baby elephant; Ron Funches as Murphy the rabbit; Phillipa Soo as Thelma the parrot; and stars Ramon Rodriguez, Ariana Greenblatt and Bryan Cranston. “The One and Only Ivan” is directed by Thea Sharrock from a screenplay by Mike White based on Applegate’s novel and is produced by the late Allison Shearmur, p.g.a., Angelina Jolie and Brigham Taylor, p.g.a. Sue Baden-Powell and Thea Sharrock serve as executive producers.

Ivan is a 400-pound silverback gorilla who shares a communal habitat in a suburban shopping mall with Stella the elephant and Bob the dog. He has few memories of the jungle where he was captured, but when a baby elephant named Ruby arrives, it touches something deep within him. Ruby is recently separated from her family in the wild, which causes him to question his life, where he comes from and where he ultimately wants to be.
