Josh Gad and Kristen Bell Create “Samantha?” Hats to Raise Money for Charity

Josh Gad and Kristen Bell Create “Samantha?” Hats to Raise Money for Charity

Josh Gad and Kristen Bell Create “Samantha?” Hats to Raise Money for Charity. During the pandemic, Josh Gad has been working hard to keep folks entertained, informed, and working alongside other celebrities to raise funds for groups and charities that are in need of attention and support to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gad, along with fellow Frozen co-star and real life BFF, Kristen Bell, have created a “Samantha?” hat that the pair are selling to raise funds for ‘No Kid Hungry’ and ‘Color of Change’ organizations.

“No Kid Hungry is a national campaign run by Share Our Strength, a nonprofit working to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world. After 25 years of successfully investing in local nonprofits and helping find the best approaches to eradicating poverty and hunger, Share Our Strength launched No Kid Hungry in 2010. As a child hunger organization, ending childhood hunger is our primary focus, though Share Our Strength continues to invest in and develop other campaigns.”

You can learn more about Share Our Strength and their other work at ShareOurStrength.org.

“Color Of Change is the nation’s largest online racial justice organization. We help people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us. As a national online force driven by 1.7 million members, we move decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America. COC campaigns and initiatives win changes that matter. By designing strategies powerful enough to fight racism and injustice—in politics and culture, in the work place and the economy, in criminal justice and community life, and wherever they exist—we are changing both the written and unwritten rules of society. We mobilize our members to end practices and systems that unfairly hold Black people back, and champion solutions that move us all forward.”

Transportation Update! Here’s When Disney World’s Skyliner, Monorail, and Select Resort Boats Should Resume!

When select Disney World resort hotels reopened last week, we knew transportation would be limited, but we were still holding out hope we might get to ride the monorail or go for a gondola ride on Disney’s Skyliner!

Grand Floridian Monorail Station

Well, that didn’t exactly happen…BUT today we finally know exactly WHEN we can expect Disney World’s many modes of transportation to be operating again!

Earlier today, theme park reporter Scott Gustin posted the dates of when we can expect Disney World’s transportation to resume!

Disney World’s monorail with service to Magic Kingdom should be up and runnin’ on July 11th — the same day Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom reopen. Note: Epcot’s monorail resumptive date is unknown at this time.

And Disney’s Skyliner is set to reopen on July 15th — the same day Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be reopening. We’ll be curious to see how it operates and how many folks will choose this way of getting around since Disney’s Skyliner connects to both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

#DisneyMagicMoments: Behind the Camera – Spaceship Earth Lights Up the Night at EPCOT for the First Time

Prior to the grand opening of EPCOT back in 1982, I was patiently waiting to see Spaceship Earth at night. We all knew even then what an iconic symbol that massive geosphere would be for Walt Disney World Resort, but I wanted to see it for myself.

It did not disappoint. I took this photo the very first time Spaceship Earth lit up at night, and the way the light bounced off the geodesic panels was amazing (then and now). And then to top it off, we had a fantastic full moon that night, as well – a bit of Disney magic! So to capture both those icons in all their glory in one image, I decided to try using a multiple exposure technique.

#DisneyMagicMoments: Behind the Camera – Spaceship Earth Lights Up the Night at EPCOT for the First Time Spaceship Earth lights up the night at EPCOT for the first time in 1982

Back then, we didn’t have digital imaging software (or digital cameras, for that matter). If I wanted a multiple exposure, I had to create it in the camera itself on a single frame of film – the definition of “old school.” Working on a tripod, I attached a super-telephoto 400mm lens to the camera to capture the moon. Then, I pressed a button on the camera that would not advance the film when I clicked the shutter. I then switched back to a wide-angle lens to capture Spaceship Earth on that same frame.

Because it was all on film, I had no idea if it worked until I returned to my darkroom the next day and developed the shot. Wow, how times have changed! Lucky for me, this experiment turned out pretty well, and proved to me just how fantastic Disney icons look under celestial bodies – a motif I’ve played with over the course of my nearly four decades as a Disney photographer.

Ticket prices range from $79 to $179 for the first month of shows. Drawn to Life is a collaboration between Cirque du Soleil, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Walt Disney Imagineering to celebrate the art of animation.
