Disneyland sends out survey over masks and temp checks

disneyland

The Orange County Register is reporting that Disneyland is sending annual passholders a survey about protective face masks, temperature checks at park entrances, and pre-arrival health questionnaires.

This survey asks for feedback on how likely passholders would be to visit the Disneyland Resort if certain health and safety measures were implemented. One series of questions focused on three potential reopening options with regards to masks, temperature checks, and health questionnaires.

In all three scenarios, operational changes at the parks included: Reduced attendance, social distancing, enhanced cleaning protocols and COVID-19 employee training.

Option 1 presented a scenario in which visitors were encouraged but not required to wear face masks. Option 2 required masks for visitors ages 3 years and over as well as temperature screenings before entering the park. Option 3 was identical to the second option, except the mask age was boosted to 10 years and over.

All three options included pre-arrival COVID-19 health questionnaires for visitors.

The Disneyland Resort remains closed and there’s no update on when they might submit reopening plans. California theme parks can reopen during California’s stage 3 of reopening and the governor says that could be as early as this month.

News! Disney World is Notifying Guests of Their Canceled Dining Reservations

Last week, Disney World’s official reopening date was announced, but with this big news came much confusion.

Breakfast a la Art Entrees

Since Disney World would have to operate with a limited capacity upon reopening, we were told a brand new reservation system would be implemented.

This meant temporarily suspending ticket sales and hotel reservations as well as canceling every existing FastPass, and every dining reservation Disney World had on its books. All Disney Dining Plans have also been canceled at this time.

Topolino’s Terrace in Disney’s Riviera Resort

All of this news was a lot to take in. In fact, it was so unbelievable, a lot of folks quickly went into their MyDisneyExpeience apps to see if in fact their reservations had been canceled, but they were even more confused when they saw all of their plans were still there!

Topolino’s Terrace

Keep in mind — Disney World has thousands upon thousands of guest reservations to work through and it’s going to take some time to cancel them all. Just today, one of our team members received an email notifying her one of her dining reservations had been canceled.

The email states, “As a result of limited capacity, we have made the difficult decision to cancel existing dining reservations.” and that some dining and other experience bookings may be suspended up Disney World’s reopening such as character meals.

Character dining is not expected to resume when the parks reopen. Learn more here!

Guests will not be charged any cancelation fees and that all pay-in-advance experiences will be credited back within seven days of the reservation date.

Filming for the ‘Avatar’ Sequels has Resumed in New Zealand

Filming for the ‘Avatar’ Sequels has Resumed in New Zealand. Recently, New Zealand approved the resumption of filming for various film studios including the studio housing the filming for the Avatar sequels which are being filmed simultaneously.

The news comes from Producer, Jon Landau, who shared a photo of himself and director James Cameron on the tarmac at Wellington International Airport in New Zealand.

As we previously shared, the Avatar sequels are being film simultaneously in an unprecedented manor that is rather un heard of in the film industry. Director James Cameron has confirmed they have finished filming for Avatar 2 and are currently working on filming for Avatar 3-5. Despite production on set being shut down, many VFX artists were still hard at work on the films, so there is little chance of a delay in the films release in December 2021.

We are very excited to see filming resume on the Avatar sequels and can’t wait for more photos and insight into the filmmaking process. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Disney!

Super Nintendo World in Universal Japan is Nearly Complete

Super Nintendo World in Universal Japan is Nearly Complete. Nintendo fans are gearing up for the opening of the first Super Nintendo World! An immersive experience that will bring guests into the world of Nintendo games.

Super Nintendo World will be an expansive, highly themed and immersive land featuring Nintendo’s legendary worlds, characters and adventures. Guests will feel as if they are playing inside their favorite Nintendo video games – in real life. It will be filled with incredibly fun rides, shops, a restaurant and interactive gameplay throughout the land. And there will be something for everyone, regardless of age or gaming experience.

Universal Studios Japan will be the first Universal theme park to feature Super Nintendo World, followed by Universal theme parks in Hollywood, Orlando and Singapore. Super Nintendo World will feature a new level of theme park guest experience that blends the physical world with the world of the video game – bringing the world of Nintendo to life in a whole new way for guests.

Guests can use a combination of state-of-the-art technology – a wearable wrist band called a Power Up Band – and a specially designed app. This will allow them to have interactive experiences, making use of their arms, hands and entire bodies as they explore the new area – making them feel like they are truly part of the video game world. Guests can download the Universal Studios Japan app on their smartphones and link it to a Power Up Band that can be purchased in Super Nintendo World to enhance their experience.

While wearing the band, guests can collect digital coins just like Mario does in the games. They can even compete with other guests to see who collected the most coins, among other fun and friendly competitions. State-of-the-art technology is being used in the Super Nintendo World area to bring all of these interactive activities to life.

You can check out the promotional video for the new land in the video below:

Super Nintendo World will feature many interactive features that will be familiar to anyone that knows Mario’s world. This includes Question Blocks that will appear around the area. While wearing a Power Up Band, guests can hit a real-life Question Block and collect coins, just like in the video game. Guests can also obtain collectible items, such as character stamps, by achieving various goals. Coins are allocated for each stamp, with the total number of coins earned by each guest ranked with all other guests in the park, making the entire experience feel like competing for a high score in a video game. There are all kinds of ways to earn coins throughout the entire land, and guests can keep score, compete against each other and celebrate together when they win.
