All New Character Experiences Debut At Walt Disney World Reopening

All New Character Experiences Debut At Walt Disney World Reopening All New Character Experiences Debut At Walt Disney World Reopening

Walt Disney World officially reopened yesterday and we spent the past two days in the parks. Both Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom opened to the public yesterday following some cast and annual passholder previews. Our favorite part of both parks just might be the brand new character experiences! Since we can’t have traditional character meet and greets right now Disney has made some fun ways to still see your favorite friends.

Magic Kingdom Characters

Friday we attended Magic Kingdom’s passholder previews. We couldn’t believe all the characters we got to see. At random times during the day they have a character float come down the parade route! There are no times set for these so people won’t gather and wait but I found it more enjoyable. It was really exciting each time the music came on to see which characters were on the floats. The fact it happened all day and not just for one parade was amazing too.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by princesses and Fairy Godmother. These characters also change throughout the day and show up at random times. It was such a fun way to be greeted entering the park.

There were also surprise characters around. Like Chip and Dale down in Frontierland on a raft and some Winnie the Pooh friends by the Crystal Palace.

Several times during the day different floats come out with characters. Gaston and Merida join them at times on horseback.

Also be on the lookout for Stitch and Buzz Lightyear at the Tomorrowland Stage and Captain Jack Sparrow across from Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

The Evil Step-Sisters from Cinderella were up at the castle. They were hilarious as usual and I recommend paying them a visit.

No visit to the Magic Kingdom is complete without seeing Mickey! He makes several trips down Main Street. It was so great to see him again.

Animal Kingdom

Magic Kingdom wasn’t the only park with fun new character experiences. Animal Kingdom also reopened and we went yesterday on the official opening day to check out what characters they had. We absolutely love the character cavalcades at Animal Kingdom. They are so fun and we really hope they stay. They characters at Animal Kingdom ride by in boats in the water that connects Africa and Asia. Listen for the music to tell when the boats are coming.

Chip, Dale, and Goofy may have been my favorite. Chip and Dale in their dinosaur costumes are adorable!

Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto also drove by. Pro tip: the best spot to watch the boats drive by and relax is at the relaxation station across from the UP! Great Bird Adventure show. You can go take your masks off at that location and have an excellent view of the water.

The Discovery Island Drummers also had a boat and it was fun to listen to them rock out. They were amazing and so upbeat.

It was really fun to see the boats ride by randomly with the characters we missed so much on them. I really hope these experiences stick around even when the rest of the parks return to normal. They are really fun and happen throughout the day. Overall it was amazing being back in the parks. Disney has done such an amazing job. Thank you to all the Cast Members working so hard so we can experience Disney magic again.

Social Distancing Measures for Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom

Social Distancing Measures for Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom splash mountain

Walt Disney World theme parks are beginning to reopen and with that comes new safety measures and guidelines. These measures will make experiencing attractions and rides different than we are used to. One of our writers was at Magic Kingdom recently and we’re here to tell you all about the new measures for experiencing Splash Mountain.

Throughout the ride queue, there are markings showing guests where to stand so they can follow physical distancing guidelines. There’s also plexiglass separating the would-be FastPass line and the standby line.

Cast members only load one party per log. So, if you are a single rider, you will get the log to yourself!

Cast members working Splash Mountain were wearing masks as well as face shields. Guests are also required to wear their masks on this ride, even though you could get wet. Bring an extra mask or two just in case!

Make This Magic Kingdom Purple Wall for Your Home

Make This Magic Kingdom Purple Wall for Your Home purple wall

The walls at Disney theme parks are trending these days and Disney fans are figuring out how to bring the magic of these walls into their own homes! Chip & Co fan Natalie Hayes shared with us how she painted Magic Kingdom‘s Purple Wall in her daughter’s room.

She credited her niece, Jayde Lickenbrock, with helping design their wall. Here’s how they did it:

First, they painted the entire wall white.

Then, using the thinnest painters tape, they made the design. They free-taped straight lines that met at angles. After the tape was up, they adjusted to add the circles that the wall at Magic Kingdom has.

Next, they numbered the shapes on the wall one through four for the colors. They tried to match Disney’s purple shades but had to improvise a little as the store wasn’t able to match them exactly.

After painting each space, they removed the tape and then “sharpened up” the white lines. If you decide to paint your own Purple Wall, you can choose which purple to paint in which space.

We love how this wall turned out! Check out the comparison to the wall at the Magic Kingdom below (left is the DYI and right is Magic Kingdom’s wall):

Special thank you to Natalie Hayes and her niece, Jayde Lickenbrock, for sharing this Disney wall makeover with us! Are you enough of a Disney addict to paint a Disney wall in your house?

Give Kids the World Announces Virtual Fun Run

Give Kids the World Announces Virtual Fun Run

Give Kids the World, a nonprofit resort that offers weeklong, cost-free, dream vacations to critically ill children and their families, recently announced they are hosting a virtual fun run!

Registrations are now open for Give Kids The World Village’s fourth annual Challenge for Hope fun run. This year’s event will be entirely virtual. For the past three years, the Central Florida-based nonprofit had hosted more than 1,000 participants at their 84-acre resort for the event resulting in nearly $400,000 raised.

“The safety of our wish families, supporters, staff, and volunteers is always our top priority, so this year our Challenge for Hope fundraiser will be completely virtual,” said Pamela Landwirth, Give Kids The World president & CEO. “We’re thrilled that with this change our supporters around the world will have the chance to participate, bringing the spirit of Give Kids The World to wherever they are.”

Participants can register to become a “Challenger” for $39 and are encouraged to fundraise to reach incentives. They will receive a kit in the mail with everything needed in order to complete their challenge from home, including a commemorative medal featuring wish kid art and a race bib.

Past events hosted at the Village boasted an inclusive and accessible fun run where all were welcome to “walk, run, roll, or stroll.” They say this year’s event will feature the same inclusivity but from home.

“The virtual challenge you complete is up to you. Walk, roll, run, stroll, swim – or even jump rope your way to complete your event,” said Landwirth.

Give Kids The World announced an extended closure due to COVID-19 in early June. They say that fundraising events like Challenge for Hope will allow them to reopen as soon as possible.

“While our resort is temporarily closed, more than 700 children each month wait for their life-changing wish. By participating, you’ll join a community of supporters who will help us emerge from these challenging times and resume fulfilling these wishes as soon as possible,” said Landwirth

To register for Challenge for Hope and to learn more about Give Kids The World visit www.challengeforhope.org.
