News! Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resort Will Remain Closed Through July 29th

With the exception of DVC members, Disney World has stopped accepting new reservations for its hotels while it gets ready to unveil a brand new reservation system.

But over the weekend, we discovered there was still a way to book a room at Disney World! That no longer seems to be the case.

As of this weekend, Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort was accepting new hotel reservations beginning July 1st. The hotels are located on Disney World’s property but are actually managed by Marriott and rooms could be booked through their third-party website.

As of right now, Disney has shared that “To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date is required.” And we have already confirmed with Disney that guests staying at Disney-partnered hotels such as Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort and Shades of Green will be considered Disney World guests.

Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort

Granted, Disney has shared that “a Disney Resort hotel reservation does not guarantee theme park access,”  but the fact that you could still book a room at Disney World seemed like a promising first step towards getting back into the parks.

However, while you could make reservations just yesterday, the Disney Swan and Dolphin Resort website now states that both resorts will remain closed through July 29th, 2020. This is well after the Disney World theme parks begin their phased reopening on July 11th.

We tried checking for any available rooms prior to July 29th on the Marriott website today and as expected, there are currently no rooms available for those dates.

When searching for rooms after July 29th, Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort had available rooms which could still be booked using the third-party website. We’ll continue to follow this developing story!

This Disney Springs Restaurant Is Surprisingly CLOSED Today

We’ve been hanging out in the reopened Disney Springs a LOT.

Wolfgang Puck

Can you blame us? It’s nice to see some of our favorite Disney restaurants getting back into the swing of things. But wait, it looks like one of our favorite spots inexplicably didn’t open today. Check out which Disney Springs restaurant is surprisingly CLOSED today!

We swung by Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill and the accompanying Wolfgang Puck Express today to see how things are going since the spots reopened. To our surprise, the entire Wolfgang Puck location was CLOSED!

Wolfgang Puck Closed

We’re not sure why this location hasn’t opened today and there wasn’t anyone around for us to ask. Oddly enough, the hours are still listed as closing at 8PM on the restaurant’s website and on social media.

Wolfgang Puck Closed

While information online does not reflect the closure, we noticed that a sign had been put in the window noting updated hours! Looks like Wolfgang Puck will remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for now. The location will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 12PM to 6PM.

Wolfgang Puck closed

We’re not sure what brought about this change but maybe we’ll find out more in the coming days. It is important to note that Planet Hollywood closed unexpectedly last week as well. In the meantime, if you were hoping to eat at Wolfgang Puck — don’t head to Disney Springs on a Monday or Tuesday!

Read our latest Wolfgang Puck review here!

A BIG Update Points to a Potential Mid-July Reopening for Disneyland

We’ve been keeping a close eye on the Disneyland website looking for any evidence regarding when California’s Disney theme parks could be reopening!

Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland

And it just so happens we noticed an indicator today that Disneyland could potentially be reopening in July!

Now that Disney World will begin a phased reopening starting July 11th, we’re anxiously awaiting the same news regarding Disneyland! So far, Disneyland hasn’t made an official announcement regarding its reopening date, so we can’t confirm anything quite yet BUT we did notice Disneyland is now selling park tickets starting July 16th!

Screenshot of Disneyland’s Website

And if you’re a Disneyland devotee, you’ll know July 17th is the 65th anniversary of Walt’s original theme park. Could Disneyland be gearing up to reopen in time for a BIG celebration?!? It’s possible, especially because theme parks in California are technically allowed to reopen in Phase 3 (which could begin as early as this month).

Disneyland’s Magic Happens Parade

It’s also important to note that the Disneyland website still states that reservations are available beginning July 15th.

We recently shared that thousands of Disney World Cast Members were being called back to work to begin training on Disney’s new health and safety procedures. The same will need to be Disneyland’s Cast Members, which to our knowledge hasn’t happened yet. That doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of time to get it all done, though!

Minnie Mouse

We’ll be keeping a watchful eye on Disneyland — but for now, you might want to snag some park tickets and hope for the best!

Read MORE about when Disney World Cast Members will return to work here!

Keep in mind, we don’t know if Disneyland will also implement a new reservation system like Disney World to limit the number of guests who may visit each day. We’ll provide you with more information as soon as it’s released!

Check out a few more indicators that point to Disneyland potentially opening in July here!

Hold Up…NBA Player Robin Lopez Has A Question About Playing Out The Season At Disney World

Disney World will be the new home of the NBA, hosting the rest of the 2020 season for 22 teams.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

But while NBA players won’t be allowed to roam the theme parks during their downtime when they’re being housed at Disney World, one very big Disney fan has something to say about it!

It all started when ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted that even though the NBA was coming to Disney World, guests shouldn’t expect to mingle with their favorite NBA players once the parks reopen.

But Milwaukee Bucks player Robin Lopez had this to say:

Yeah! That doesn’t seem fair! ?

Moments later, Robin Lopez tweeted:

It’s clear that Robin Lopez is a huge Disney fan and has been for quite a while. One of our Great Movie Ride-loving employees even saw him at the final GMR ride-through, all dressed up in a snazzy suit!

And obvi if someone can tell this much about a Disney ride…

…they’re a legit fan!

We’re laughing out loud over these tweets!

The NBA, in case you weren’t aware, is indeed finishing out their season in Disney World! These teams will be playing at ESPN Wide World of Sports, and while we don’t have confirmation on where the players will be staying, we do know that they will be at three specific hotels, and that Coronado Springs is likely one of them!

We will let you know as more information is released. But until then, we hope there are more Robin Lopez tweets to laugh at! (And we DO hope to see him in the parks!)

Click here to watch a funny video welcoming the NBA to Disney World!

Do you think some of the NBA players might get their wish to visit the Disney World theme parks? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
