Disney Cruise Line Offers Extension of Future Cruise Credit for Guests Affected by Cancellations

We’ve seen Disney Cruise Line go through several rounds of sailing cancellations, the most recent extending cancellations well into July.

The Disney Wonder

With Disney Cruises perhaps being the last Disney experience to reopen, Disney has opted to extend the expiration date of the future cruise credits given to those affected by the cancellations. Let’s take a look at that new date!

Disney has reached out to guests and travel agents to announce that the future cruise credits for affected guests (previously offered at a value of 25%, 125%, or 150% of the original voyage fare) can now be used on any sailings that depart by March 31st, 2022.

This extends the validity period for these credits significantly further than the original 15-month window. These credits are automatically added to affected guests’ accounts and they can be used to place a reservation on hold starting June 3rd by applying the credit as a payment option.

Remember, if your modified reservation is paid in full and you have a leftover value from the credit, it will be applied to your account as an onboard credit for use on your trip.

Disney Cruise Line Extends Future Cruise Credit

disney cruise line

Disney Cruise Line just announced that the future cruise credit being offered to guests affected by COVID-19 is now extended to early 2022.

Guests who had their cruise canceled were originally offered the choice of either a future cruise credit equal to 25%, 125% or 150% of their original voyage fare to be used within 15 months of their original sailing or a full refund. Disney is now extending the use of the future cruise credit to sailings that depart by March 31, 2022.

The credit has been automatically added to guests’ accounts. Once guests’ modified reservation is paid in full, any remaining future cruise credit will be applied to their shipboard account as a non-refundable onboard credit. Sailings are currently available through summer 2021. Additional eligible sailings will be released later.

If you need any assistance with applying your cruise credit towards your reservation, feel free to call Disney Cruise Line or your travel agent.

Universal Studios Hollywood Might Be Looking To Reopen in July

Disney World and Disneyland have been closed since March, but attractions over on the east coast have been slowly opening up to guests again.

Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle

Universal Orlando plans to open its theme parks this week and Disney World will follow next month. Earlier today, we learned that Disneyland Resort is now only accepting reservations beginning July 15th. But according to recent reports, Universal Studios Hollywood is already considering opening the theme parks in July.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the unions representing Universal employees shared with its members that Universal Hollywood is “hopeful” that the whole theme park will reopen in July.

The message from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees also stated that CityWalk could open “‘on a limited basis’ as soon as June 8th.”

VooDoo Doughnut CityWalk

Their county was recently cleared to reopen in-person dining and retail, but Universal has not released an official statement on their reopening timeline for CityWalk or the theme parks. We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more!

Universal Studios Hollywood hopeful to reopen in July

universal hollywood

According to one union for Universal Studios Hollywood, the theme park is “hopeful” the entire resort will be reopened in July. There’s also a possibility of Universal Studios Hollywood’s CityWalk reopening this month.

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees sent a note to its members saying that Universal may reopen CityWalk “on a limited basis” as soon as June 8.

The county recently approved in-person dining which clears the way for CityWalk to reopen. Guidelines for reopening theme parks have not yet been released so reopening the Universal park is more complicated.

Universal Orlando Resort reopens later this week with strict new health and safety measures in place. The Californian theme park may reopen with similar measures and protocols.

Californian theme parks can now reopen under stage 3 of the state’s reopening plans, though none have submitted reopening proposals as of yet. Stay tuned for more information as it gets released!
