We spoke with a Cast Member today who shared that Cookie Dough and Everything Sweet is set to open at 5PM this evening!

Trump proposes Explore America Tax Credit which includes Theme Parks

Trump proposes Explore America Tax Credit which includes Theme Parks Explore America

The U.S. tourism industry wants people to resume traveling. Soon, a proposed “Explore America” tax credit might help the industry recover. The travel industry has lost 8.1 million jobs so far and is projected to lose $519 billion due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lobbyists are currently circulating a proposed plan in Congress that would offer $4,000 tax breaks for U.S. vacationers. The intent is to get Americans to begin traveling and spending money at hotels, theme parks and other tourism businesses.

The “Explore America” tax credit is one of several proposed subsidies that tourism industry lobbyists are pitching to policymakers as the early contours of a new economic stimulus package begin to take shape in Washington. President Trump is in favor of the “Explore America” tax credit.

The tax credit would be a great benefit even though the federal government committed trillions of dollars to stop the economic damage caused by the pandemic. However, they will have to spend even more to help pull the tourism industry back to its feet. Tori Emerson Barnes, a lobbyist for the U.S. Travel Association, went on to say:

“We are grateful to the president for hearing our call for a national effort to get Americans traveling again as the country shifts into the recovery phase.”

Some of the members of the U.S. Travel Association include the Walt Disney Co. and Comcast Corp.’s Universal Parks & Resorts. Also, Roger Dow, CEO and President of the U.S. Travel Association, issued the following statement in regards to the proposed tax credit:

“An ‘Explore America’ tax credit and campaign will do wonders to put America back on the path to prosperity. We applaud the president’s support, and with our industry’s health and safety guidance for the reopening of travel businesses in place, we are very prepared to work with the administration to push the effort forward at the right time.”

These Nachos Are Topped With An EPIC Surprise in Disney World!

We are BACK at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop in Disney Springs… because ice cream is always a good idea! Don’t you agree?

These Nachos Are Topped With An EPIC Surprise in Disney World!

Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop

On our recent visit upon Ghirardelli’s reopening, we enjoyed the new version of an old favorite concoction: the Gold Rush Sundae. And today we were happy to find a NEW item — joined by some returning favorites — just added to the menu!

When Ghirardelli first reopened its doors at the end of May, it returned with a fairly limited menu. So it was a happy surprise today when we spotted the return of a few more Specialty Sundaes like Lands End, the Magical Sundae, and one of our very favorites — the Crissy Field Cookie Bits Sundae back on the list!

Do you remember that one?!

Create Your Own Quake Shake has also returned along with the Nob Hill Chill and the new Ultimate Latte Chill (which serves up a vanilla bean base and caramel with the coffee).

We were tempted today by the new Nacho Sundae, which comes in at $14.50.

The Nacho Sundae is served up with three scoops of your choice of ice cream on top of Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips, all covered with whipped cream and a sprinkling of nuts.

And what’s any Sundae — even a non-traditional Nacho Sundae — without a cherry on top?!

We went with Vanilla, Strawberry, and Mint Chocolate Chip for our flavors… and, let me tell you, they did NOT skimp on those scoops!

The chips, by the way, are super tasty along with providing some nice crunch to the sundae. They totally reminded us of a slightly crunchier version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal!

(Of course, while you can use them to scoop up the ice cream, you’re going to want to grab a spoon for this one!)

And they’ve done it again! Just when you think Ghirardelli couldn’t possibly come up with any more spectacular specialty sundaes… they DO! Ghirardelli is located in the Disney Springs Marketplace — where, by the way, you’ll also find Marketplace Snacks which is still serving up the fabulous Dole Whip Nachos.

So now you’ve got not one — but TWO! — insane Dessert Nachos to choose from. Which one will it be for you  ?

Will you be ordering up a Nacho Sundae? Please let us know with a comment!

When Disney World Reopens, Can You Even Go?

Disney World is reopening on July 11th, but that doesn’t mean that everyone who wants to go will be able to.

When Disney World Reopens, Can You Even Go?

Walt Disney World

Not only is Disney set to significantly reduce capacity in the theme parks, but some travelers may not even have a chance at planning their vacation in the first place. After all, you don’t have to worry about whether or not you can get into the parks if you’re not able to get into Florida! We’re taking a look at some of the current laws and factors that could prohibit a Disney trip for some.

International travelers may have some issues getting to Disney World.

For one, those coming from outside of the country may have a difficult time getting to Orlando. 20% of attendance in Disney World is attributed to international travelers, so we know there are some international folks who are excited to get to the parks. Right now though, there are some things in their way.

When Disney World Reopens, Can You Even Go?

For one, the U.S. State Travel Department has a Stage 4 Global Travel Advisory in effect. That means “Do Not Travel.” Due to the global health crisis, many government agencies are not deeming it safe to travel for leisure. Of course, an advisory doesn’t mean that you CAN’T travel, but some countries have full-out bans in effect.

According to the CDC, travel to the U.S. is banned for those who spent any of the previous 14 days in China, Iran, the European Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, Ireland, or Brazil. Beyond that, over 140 countries have closed their borders and/or enacted travel bans — many of them prohibiting travel to or from the U.S. and still in effect. If those bans aren’t lifted, Disney lovers in those countries will be out of luck at reopening.

PLUS, the international air travel industry took a major hit during the crisis. Per Forbes, though international flights are starting to come back, they are limited. Finding flights to Orlando may not be easy or even possible for some international travelers IF they are permitted to travel.

For some Disney-lovers in the U.S., it may be impossible to get to the parks.

International travelers aren’t the only ones who may have some issues. Anyone entering Florida from Connecticut, New Jersey, or New York must undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine upon entering the state. However, this order is set to expire on July 7th, unless the Florida Governor decides to extend the order. Currently, this quarantine applies regardless of method of transportation, and the costs of quarantine, including lodging, fall on the traveler.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Most folks will not have the means to spend two weeks in quarantine before they can get on with their Disney trip. You’d have to spend a pretty long time in Disney to make the trip worth two weeks of quarantine!

Even if you are NOT traveling from the New York tri-state area, you still need to check out the current health measures of your state and any state you may be traveling through. You may run into border checkpoints, curfews, stay at home orders, and more.

What can you do about this?

The solution? Stay informed. This is a developing situation and different states and countries are changing their health measures and restrictions all the time. You may have to wait it out until travel becomes a part of the norm again.
