World of Disney store reopens at Disney Springs

World of Disney

The World of Disney celebrated its grand reopening at Disney Springs this week. We visited Disney Springs to capture the experience and tour the store.

The World of Disney (WOD) is implementing social distancing and other revised rules to comply with the CDC guidelines. The store is currently accepting only a limited capacity of guests, so plan on allowing more time when visiting Disney Springs to accommodate your wait in line. The wait time on the first day back exceeded three hours at one point!

We went in person to survey the WOD store and see what new merchandise is currently available. You can watch the video of our shopping experience here.

Guests will find glass barriers at cash registers and space markers on the floor to promote social distancing among customers. Even though it’s a new sight to see, it does show Disney is diligent about advocating health and safety.

We enjoyed seeing the new summer merchandise at World of Disney today. Walking through the store brought a smile to the face of visitors since it felt good to see Disney Springs slowly returning to normal activity.

Let us know your comments if you plan on visiting World of Disney this weekend!

These changes included appointing new park presidents for both Disney World and Disneyland, naming Josh D’Amaro the Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, and shifting Rebecca Campbell into the role of Chairman for the Direct-To Consumer sector. And now, Disney announced a change to its financial leadership.

Shortly after news broke that the Disney World parks were proposed to reopen in July after being closed since March, Deadline reported that The Walt Disney Company has appointed a new treasurer.

Cinderella Castle

Previous senior vice president, Treasurer, Jonathan Headley, is retiring and finance executive, Carlos Gómez, has been promoted to take his place. Gómez will report to the Chief Financial Officer, Christine McCarthy, and will oversee Disney’s “corporate finance, liquidity management, capital markets, and banking activities,” among other roles.

Gómez has been a member of the Walt Disney Co. team for 22 years and has served as the vice president of Investor Relations since 2011. NEWS! Revised Park Hours Posted for Disney World’s Planned Reopening!

After a lengthy closure, Disney World has submitted a proposal for reopening the parks!

Magic Kingdom

Disney World has proposed a reopening date of July 11th for Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, followed by a reopening date of July 15th for Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Upon reopening, guests will need to make a reservation in order to visit the parks, and some entertainment such as parades, fireworks, and character meet-and-greets will be temporarily suspended.

Now that the proposed reopening dates have been announced, our team pulled up the My Disney Experience app to check on the park hours. We confirmed that park hours prior to July 11th have been removed.

Disney World Confirms That Dining Reservations are Currently Unavailable

There has been a TON of news coming out of Disney World today!

Be Our Guest Restaurant

After a lengthy closure beginning back on March 16th, Disney World announced that they hope to reopen Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom on July 11th, followed by EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 15th. Whenever the parks are cleared to reopen, guests can expect to experience several changes including new health and safety guidelines, required reservations for park entrance, and contactless menus in restaurants.

Earlier today, Disney World paused hotel reservations and ticket purchases. Guests may have also realized that they were unable to make advance dining reservations on the Disney World website or My Disney Experience app later in the day. Disney World has now added a message to the site confirming that dining and other experience reservations are unavailable at this time.

While the travel information page of the website indicates that “reservations will resume at a later date,” there is currently no timeframe available for when guests will once again be able to make reservations.
