Review: Chocolate Paradise and Some Pasta Too! We’re in Disney Springs at the Reopened Terralina Crafted Italian!

Disney Springs has been reopening its restaurants for guests to get their eatin’ and drinkin’ on while they’re visiting!

Terralina Crafted Italian

Although we’ve been taking you with us to try some great food (Buri Bop is the BOMB), we’re back for a little slice of Italy at Terralina Crafted Italian! Terralina Crafted Italian is owned by James Beard Award Winning Chef, Tony Mantuano, and themed after his love of Lake Como, Italy.

Checking In

Before you enter the restaurant, there are social distancing markers on the ground to wait behind…

Terralina Crafted Italian

…and a few on the inside to remind guests to keep 6 feet apart from one another.

Distancing Sticker

The hostess is inside currently, so guests can either check-in for their reservation or wait for a table on stand-by.

Hostess

While you’re waiting, Terralina has hand sanitizer placed around the restaurant for guests and Cast Members to use.

Waiting Area

You can also pop over to the indoor bar…

Indoor Bar

…or outdoor bar for a drink, since they are both open for drinks to-go! You don’t have to tell us twice!

Outdoor Bar

Note, the seating at both bars is done by the hostess, so if you’d like to sit — just ask!

Menu

Since Disney is following strict health and safety guidelines, the restaurant has three ways to view the menu. You can look at the limited options outside…

…or on disposable paper menus!

The menu at Terralina has been condensed for the time being and there is one all-day menu now, as opposed to different lunch and dinner menus.

Terralina Crafted Italian will also give you a mask bag to place your mask inside while you’re dining.

Paper Menu

We appreciated having a sanitary place to store our masks and it was a great way to protect them while we ate.

Drink

We decided to start off with the Limoncello Mojito, which happened to be one of Terralina’s most popular drinks! The cocktail was mixed up with imported Arvero Limoncello, simple syrup, and muddled mint.

Limoncello Mojito

While the flavors might have been simple, the Limoncello Mojito was super light and fresh!

Limoncello Mojito

It reminded us of a minty lemonade, which would be VERY refreshing as a poolside cocktail in the Florida heat.

Eats

And, now, on to the eats! Terralina was not doing bread service during our visit due to an abundance of caution, but we still got our fix with an appetizer.

We started our meal off with the Burrata, which came with prosciutto, arugula, lemon, and crostini. Normally, the Burrata is made with in-house pickled beets instead of prosciutto. However, Terralina tends to make them in bulk, so the beets aren’t a possibility at this time with the limited amount of guests. Instead, they’ve decided to mix things up by using an ingredient they have readily available in their kitchen (we’re not complaining!!).

Burrata

The cracked pepper over the prosciutto added a lovely hint of spice paired with the lemon zest on the burrata. The arugula had a light lemon vinaigrette so we got a lovely citrus flavor to pair with all the savory eats.

We made our own mini DIY sandwich with the crostini, which was WAY better than the sad turkey sandwiches we’ve had over the past several weeks at home… .

Cheese and Meat! Oh My!

This was a really delicious and fresh way to kick off our meal! It was a large serving as well, which would make it a great shareable, or even a lovely lunch or dinner for one.

We thought that nothing could beat that appetizer, but the Rigatoni Calabrese was waiting to make us fall in love with pasta all over again. The dish was mixed with house-made pork sausage, tomato, olive, mushroom, and escarole.

Rigatoni Calabrese

Although we’d normally go for a creamier pasta or something with truffles (who doesn’t love truffles with Italian food??), we were surprised at how much we liked the Rigatoni Calabrese! The flavors blended well together and the bitter escarole balanced the olive oil and butter.

Rigatoni Calabrese

The pork was actually ground instead of sausage links, which made for easier chewing with the pasta. The flavors of the meat really stood out in the dish, which we LOVED.

Although we couldn’t taste the olives too much, we thought that adding extra cheese made the Rigatoni Calabrese even better. Our server even told us that they have one person whose whole job at a point is to make all the little cheese cups (obviously cheese is just that important).

You Can’t Go Wrong with Some Parmesan!

Our server also let us know this is a Chef Tony Mantuano specialty, and has been a staple on the menu since Terralina’s first ideation, Portobello Yacht Club, opened 35 years ago. When in Italy, eat like the Italians!

We aren’t ones to say no to dessert, and we certainly couldn’t pass up the Chocolate Paradiso Cake! The chocolate layer cake was topped with chocolate ganache and toffee crunch (so it was the perfect combination of rich, sweet, and salty!).

Paradise Cake

Although the cake was previously called Chocolate Paradise (back when Terralina was “Portobello“) we were VERY happy to get another round during our visit.

Paradise Cake

Read our original review of the Chocolate Paradise here!

In addition to a tasty meal, the service was one of the best we’ve had in Disney Springs (so give your Cast Members some well-needed love)! At checkout, our server let us know about a special deal for Florida Residents — 20% off food and alcoholic beverages! Good food at a lower price? Yes, please!

Nosh or Not

Consider dining at Terralina if:

  • You’re looking for a relaxing, laid-back atmosphere for a sit-down meal.
  • You love Italian food and have a hankering for pasta or wood-fired pizza.
  • You’re a local who wants to take advantage of their current discount!

Skip Terralina if:

  • You don’t have time for a sit-down meal, and want something on-the-go.
  • Italian food isn’t your favorite, or you’d like to try something a bit more adventurous.

Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to Terralina Crafted Italian. The flavors were fresh, the cocktail was refreshing, the service was excellent, and we’re still dreaming about that cake. With so many delicious places to eat at Disney Springs, it was nice to re-visit Terralina, and we look forward to our next visit!

News! Disney Springs’ Under Armour Store Is at Capacity Today — And We Think We Know Why!

Disney Springs is a little more crowded today, and you just have to look at the Under Armour store to see that.

Under Armour at Disney Springs

While strolling around Walt Disney World‘s shopping complex today (and munching some popcorn in our refillable bucket we picked up!), we noticed that the athletic apparel store was at capacity…and we think we know why!

As it turns out, Under Armour is offering a one-day $10 off coupon for purchases of $10 or more! If you find something not too pricey and close to ten bucks, like a great pair of socks, you could get them for almost free!

Under Armour $10 off coupon at Disney Springs

That sounds like a great deal for folks who love the brand’s HeatGear casual wear line, which can help keep you cool in that classic Florida heat.

But this coupon means guests are having to wait outside in a socially-distanced line before shopping for all of that athletic gear since Under Armour (and other stores) around Disney Springs are limiting capacity during this initial reopening phrase.

Standing in line for Under Armour at Disney Springs

Luckily, once you get inside, you can safely shop and get a serious deal on some new workout clothes! Remember, this deal is TODAY ONLY, so if you’re itching to get some new workout gear to help shed some of those pounds we all may or may not have gained being stuck inside for so long, they’ve got what you need!

Another store has reopened in Disney Springs! Check it out here!

Are you excited to shop at Under Armour when you get back to Disney Springs? Let us know!

5 Things You Need To Know If You’re Planning to Go To Disney World the Day it Reopens

With the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland and Disney Springs behind us, and Disney World’s proposed July 11th reopening awaiting approval, we’ve got our minds set on reopening day for Disney World.

Walt Disney World

Still, as we’ve seen in Shanghai, things might be pretty different when we get back into the parks. The past few weeks have shed some serious light on what the domestic parks may look like thanks to observations in China, comments from Disney executives, and the proposed reopening plan for Disney World.

If you want to head to Disney World on reopening day, you’ll want to keep these things in mind.

1. Before you go, consider what travel will look like.

First off, be aware that your travel plans might look a little different — particularly if you’re flying. Though some states have suggestions not to travel, you shouldn’t have as much to worry about if you’re driving to Disney World (but always check on the current policies for your home state and for Florida!).

Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante ©Patina Restaurant Group

Flying is a whole different story. There may still be some travel restrictions such as limited flights and lower capacities. Plus, airports could be utilizing new health and safety measures that elongate your time pre or post-flight. Airlines are facing major changes due to the global health crisis, and it is still to be seen what the long-term effects may be.

Orlando International Airport

If you’re planning a trip to Disney for the reopening, make sure you have your travel plans worked out. Be sure to allow some extra time for potential hang-ups, longer queue lines, and other surprises during travel.

See what changes are being made with the TSA here.

2. You might need to make a reservation — even if you have an Annual Pass.

With capacity limitations, you may need to think about the prospect of HOW to get into Disney World. In Shanghai Disneyland, the parks are currently limited to a capacity of less than 30%. If a similar tack is taken in the US parks and demand is high, that may mean that not everyone will make it into the parks.

©ShanghaiDisneylandResort on Instagram

Shanghai is currently using an advance reservation system that allows guests, even those with Annual Passes, to reserve time in the parks for a specific day. On top of that, Shanghai saw pretty quick sales when tickets opened up.

Disney World’s proposed reopening plan included the creation of a new theme park reservation system. Though we have few details at this time, this could be used similarly to Disney Shanghai to help limit capacity. Right now, all we know is that some guests, including Annual Passholders and guests with Disney World hotel reservations, will be offered priority access to the reservations system.

Shanghai Disneyland

Don’t count on being able to walk up to the park entrance to snag your ticket; this trip might require some forethought. Keep an eye on DFB to find out what expectations Disney will have for guests as we learn more.

Click here to read about Disneyland Shanghai’s reservation system.

3. You should go ahead and get used to wearing a mask.

It’s true, it’s going to be an adjustment for all of us, but you should probably get used to wearing a face mask. Face masks are currently required for Cast Members and guests in Disneyland Shanghai, in Disney Springs, and at Universal Studios; and we now know that they will be mandatory in the reopened parks and elsewhere on property, per the Disney World reopening proposal.

Disney Cloth Masks ©Disney

So, get used to wearing a mask before you have to wear it all day in the parks. Just like you practice walking for hours and break in those new shoes — practice wearing your mask and find a few that feel good and are breathable. Make sure that you don’t have any issues with the comfort of the material or the strings on your ears. Plus, Florida is hot and humid, so getting familiar with the sensation of having one cover your face may take some time.

Read our TIPS for wearing a face-covering in Florida HERE!

©Harvey’s

It’s also important that you consider your kids’ comfort and help them get used to masks so that they are happy following the rules. They may not fully understand why they need to wear a mask, so be sure to fully explain the situation to them. To make them more okay with it, you could even let them pick out their own Disney face mask online!

4. Be prepared for it to take a while to get into the parks.

Once you make it to Disney World, it may not be so easy to get from your car or transportation to the park gates. Be prepared for it to take a little while longer to get into your park of choice. The health crisis will mean new entrance protocols like we’ve seen at Disney Springs and proposed in the reopening plan with temperature checks. This could make entry lines long, especially early on as Disney tries to balance the new processes.

Friendship Boats

On top of that, there have been some updates to the Magic Kingdom entrance and the parking lots at the Transportation and Ticket Center that may not be familiar once you visit. You might be in for a long wait for a tram or a longer walk.

See how long it took for us to have our temperature checked in Disney Springs here.

5. Set your expectations realistically.

Based on the opening in Disney Shanghai, it’s important that we realize we may not be able to do all the things we used to. In Shanghai, shows, characters, and entertainment have all been changed with some offerings canceled altogether. Now, a few weeks later, some experiences are returning, but it did take a little while.

Fireworks will be canceled temporarily in Disney World

Similarly, Disney World has proposed that the parks will forgo experiences such as fireworks, parades, and character meet and greets initially. For many, this could make the parks feel a little bit weird while you’re there.

Mickey Mouse

It’s important that you know that the parks may not feel like the Disney World you’re used to, especially right on opening day. This is probably a good talk to have with little ones as well! And remember, be patient and kind to the Cast Members, even if a cancellation or change disappoints you. This is a whole new world for them too.

Reopening day in Disney is sure to be an interesting and potentially historic occasion. We’ll be keeping you up to date with all the details on a reopening. Who knows! Maybe we’ll see you there when the gates open again.

You Can STILL Score This Drink Discount in Disney World…But It’s a Little Different Now!

Ya’ll know that Wine Bar George is one of our go-to spots in Disney Springs!

The Basket at Wine Bar George

And, now that the shopping and dining district is back open, we’ve been SO excited to get some flaming cheese at the restaurant and a Froscato next door at The Basket!

Even though we’ve told you all about those AWESOME Corkcicles available at The Basket, one of our favorite discounts at the quick-service stop is looking a little different nowadays.

Yellow Corksicle

You usually can get a refill of your pick of a frozen drink like Froscato, Frosé, or Freaujolais (choosing is so hard!!) for $10 after you’ve purchased a Corkcicle (usually $13). The Basket used to refill your cup directly and give it back to you. However, with the recent health and safety procedures at Disney Springs, The Basket is now putting refills in a plastic cup instead of directly in your Corkcicle!

New Corkcicle Procedure

Of course, you can pour the drink in yourself, but this prevents any extra cross-contamination between guests and The Basket. Since you have the option to just drink straight from the plastic cup, we asked if you can just bring your receipt from your Corkcicle to get the discount, but no dice. You must bring your Corkcicle and show it to the cashier to get the discount. Hey, we’re just happy we can still get our Dole Whip slush on!

Read all about the disappearance of the newest Corkcicle at The Basket here!

What’s your favorite drink from The Basket? Let us know in the comments below!
