Here’s What We Know About MagicBands During Disney World’s Reopening

As many of us are already keenly aware, our summer Disney World vacations are going to look and feel very different this year. There’s going to be a lot fewer people in parks, tons of new health and safety measures, and no parades, fireworks or character meet and greets to start.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

But with so many modifications being made to Disney World’s guest experiences, you might be asking yourself what’s going to happen with MagicBands? Will we still be using them? Can we still pre-order them? We’re just like you guys — we can’t picture a trip to Disney World that doesn’t include MagicBands since we’re so used to swiping them to enter the theme parks, our guest rooms, and even pay for stuff! Plus — that’s only a couple of ways we use ’em! The list goes on and on!

Rest assured, while many changes are happening for Disney World’s July 11th and July 15th reopening, Disney World will still be using MagicBands. While we won’t have all the details for you until Disney World reveals its new reservation system, here’s what we know about MagicBands so far.

What if I’ve already ordered my MagicBands?

Shortly after the parks announced they were closing, Disney World suspended MagicBand orders. Guests who had placed orders that were shipped out would still receive their MagicBands while any upgraded MagicBands that were to be delivered to Disney World resort hotels after March 20th were automatically canceled and refunded.

Since the Disney World theme parks and hotels were closed indefinitely, MagicBand orders were suspended. But now that the parks are reopening July 11th and 15th along with several Disney Vacation Club resorts and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort opening June 22nd, is there a way for guests to order their MagicBands again? We investigated!

Will I still be able to order my MagicBands?

Normally, Disney Resort hotel guests and Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can order MagicBands through the My Disney Experience website. But since Disney World has temporarily suspended its ticket sales, stopped taking new hotel bookings, and aren’t allowing guests to reserve any FastPasses or dining experiences at this time, we were curious to see if we could still place a MagicBand order.

Beach Club Resort

When we tried to place an order as a Disney World Annual Passholder this morning we received a message stating, “While the Walt Disney World theme parks and Resort hotels are temporarily closed, we are not currently accepting new MagicBand orders linked to Walt Disney World Annual Passholders or Disney Resort hotel reservations. Please continue to check this page for additional updates.”

Screenshot from Disney World’s Website

Okay, fair enough. Luckily, we also have a reservation to stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort as well as Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort on July 1st.

Screenshot from My Disney Experience App

At first, it appeared as if we could order our MagicBands, because we saw this “Choose MagicBands” option…

Screenshot from My Disney Experience App

…but when we clicked on it, we still weren’t directed to the ordering process. Instead, we saw this screen which informed us we could order our MagicBands up to 11 days before our arrival date if we wanted them sent to our homes (which has been Disney World’s shipping policy on MagicBands since before the temporary closures).

Screenshot from My Disney Experience App

We searched high and low and didn’t find any way to place an order for MagicBands at the moment, so as far as we’ve been able to dig up, MagicBand orders are still being temporarily suspended at this time. We’re hopeful once Disney World launches its new reservation system, guests will be able to place their MagicBand orders once again.

Check out Disney World’s newest solid color MagicBand here!

I have 12 days left to order for a July trip and I’m not sure what I should do!

Prior to the closure, Disney World advised guests to order their MagicBands at least 11 days before your arrival date if you would like your MagicBands shipped to your home and at least 6 days before your arrival date to have them shipped to your Resort hotel. Disney World’s website still states this as their policy.

However, while we were attempting to order MagicBands today, we noticed this “Shipping Timeline” which reads a little bit differently.

Screenshot from My Disney Experience App

Disney World says you should choose a MagicBand 10-6 days before your arrival date and MagicBands will ship only to your resort for the time being. If you select your MagicBand 5-1 days before your trip, you won’t get to pick out a color or design. You’ll be issued a gray MagicBand, available for pick-up at the guest relations.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Once the hotels reopen, Disney World will be strongly encouraging guests to utilize online self-check-in as well as a new chat feature that will instantly connect guests with a Cast Member, saving you a trip to Guest Relations. However, Disney has informed us standard check-in will be available for guests whose MagicBands are shipped to the resort.

It’s still very unknown when Disney World will resume shipping MagicBands out to guests’ houses or how fast they’ll arrive, but we’ll update you with any new information Disney provides on this matter.

What if my Disney World hotel doesn’t have a reopening date yet?

We’re keeping a watchful eye on Disney World’s hotels for any reopening announcements and we’ll let you know as soon they’re accepting new bookings. So far, we know in order to have priority access to the new reservation system, guests will need to have valid admission and Disney World accommodations booked.

MagicBand reader in Walt Disney World

We did, however, see the feature on the My Disney Experience app which allowed us to forego the option of ordering new MagicBands so we could recycle our old MagicBands from previous trips. While not everyone has old MagicBands lying around, any MagicBands you’ve used at Disney World and haven’t deactivated from your account could still work at the parks and hotels.

Screenshot from My Disney Experience App

You can also purchase MagicBands on shopDisney or other third party websites such as Amazon or eBay and link them to your account, but since Disney World provides MagicBands for free (included in the price of your reservation) you may want to hold off.

Keep in mind — having just park tickets or only a hotel reservation will not guarantee you’ll have access to the theme parks upon their reopening. Since Disney World has suspended all ticket sales, new hotel bookings, and a bunch of other services (which we now know includes ordering MagicBands) we know many of you are anxious to get the ball rollin’ on your vacation planning. Just sit tight for now, try not to worry yourselves too much, and we expect Disney World to be releasing many new details about its procedures very soon!

Disney World to call back full-time food & beverage Cast Members

Disney World Restaurant

Local Disney World Union 737 recently announced that Disney World will be calling back full-time food & beverage Cast Members on their Facebook Page.

More updates on the re-opening of Disney food and beverage! This afternoon, Disney will begin calling full-time workers back to these locations. Additional workers may also be called to some of the locations we announced last week on this Facebook page. We do not have any other information now. As soon as we have information about Park and Resort openings, we will post it here.

Not all Cast Members are being called back at this time and we do not have any more information than what they posted above…

Review! We’re Fired Up for Pizza — AND Dessert Knots! — at Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza in Disney Springs

Welcome back to Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza in Disney Springs!

Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza in Disney Springs

This isn’t our first stop back here since Blaze reopened on May 20th. We paid a visit to this popular quick service pizza joint to check out their new safety measures upon reopening. Today, we’re heading back to pick up a pie (and perhaps a little something sweet) for a full review!

So, get ready to fire it up with us at Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza once again!

Atmosphere

The new safety measures — which you can read about in full here — remain in place, of course, since reopening day. Among them are markers on the floor to promote physical distancing, and face masks are required for cast members (as they are for guests, as well, all throughout Disney Springs).

Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza

And the good folks at Blaze would like to remind you of a very important message: “Trust me, underneath that mask I’m smiling.”

Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza

As always, guests seat themselves. However, select tables are marked off with clever signs to further encourage distancing between guests.

If you’ve visited Blaze before, you may remember the refillable drink station (which holds some fairly unique options for guests, including selections by Blue Sky).

Though the refill station is marked off from guests at the moment, you can show your receipt to the cast member at the beverage station and they can help set you up with your refill from there.

You can also make requests for utensils and condiments (which were previously up for grabs at carts). Again, you can check out even more of the new measures implemented at Blaze by clicking here. But now, it’s time for…

Eats

It’s all in the name at Blaze Fast-Fire’d PIZZA!

Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza

Except…not entirely.  We’ve been interested in trying the recently added Knots here, too.

Dessert and Dough Knots signs

You can go sweet or savory with the Dessert Knots (with Cinnamon & Sugar) or Dough Knots (Mozzarella & Garlic Pesto).

Dough Knots

Since we were going seriously savory with our pizza, we ordered up the Dessert Knots (four for $4.25) along with our Meat Eater Pizza ($9.95)!

Meat Eater Pizza

The Meat Eater — one of the spot’s Signature Pizzas — comes complete with pepperoni, meatballs (!!), red onion, mozzarella cheese, and a classic Red Sauce. We went with the Original Dough, but remember to “Know Your Dough” options when it comes to picking your pizza at Blaze! (And just a reminder that High-Rise and Gluten-Free dough are each $2.00 more.)

Know Your Dough

The Meat Eater is one of the two most popular pizza options here. (We were told the Build Your Own Pizza, as we expected, also ranks up at the top.) And it completely lives up to its name with TONS of meat from the plentiful pepperoni and meatballs.

Meat Eater Pizza

It’s seriously hearty. And, just like literally every other pizza we’ve had here, it’s also super tasty! Plenty of fresh toppings cover every inch of the pizza while the crust is nicely finished with a terrific char.

Meat Eater Pizza

We ordered the Meat Eater Pizza exactly as it comes, but next time we’d opt to add more veggies to balance it out a bit more. (Remember, customizing is welcome and even encouraged at Blaze!)

Meat Eater Pizza

To wash it down, we went with the fresh and fruity Blackberry Basil Agua Fresca. It’s one of the unique beverage flavors here, which also include Lemonades such as Blood Orange.

Blackberry Basil Agua Fresca

Agua Fresca and Lemonades

Oh, and aside from the drink, here’s a look at the new strawless lids in use here, which serve to reduce single-use plastic straws.

Blackberry Basil Agua Fresca

And NOW it’s time to finish it all off with those Cinnamon and Sugar Dessert Knots!

Dessert Knots

The Dessert Knots are totally yummy, with plenty of cinnamon baked into the thick dough rolls. Sure, we could use a little more icing (which is always the case with us here at the DFB for any cinnamon roll-style treat  ) , but the “fast-fire’d” baking process gives these knots a unique twist (if you’ll pardon the pun).

Dessert Knots

But we do have one suggestion…

Dessert Knots

If you plan to order these, do so after you finish eating your pizza to enjoy on their own. We waited to have them as dessert, and while they were still very good, we think they should be eaten right away while at their fresh-from-the-oven best!

And that’s the latest from Blaze!

Nosh or Not

Fire up for a visit to Blaze if:

  • You LOVE oodles of options for customizing your pizza.
  • You’re looking for a lot of pizza bang for your buck!
  • You simply love a tasty pizza pie. (And really… who doesn’t??)

Blaze on by if:

  • You already have a Blaze Fast-Fired Pizza in your hometown and would prefer to dine somewhere unique to Disney Springs.
  • You’d like to linger a bit after your meal. This popular spot often has lots of guests hoping to snag a seat.

Overall

Our latest visit to Blaze only serves to reminds us exactly why this place is so popular with locals and Disney Springs cast members as well as guests. Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza serves up consistently fresh, tasty, and totally customizable pizza — along with some fun options for snacks or dessert — at great prices. There’s a reason why you’ll often spot a line outside this popular location.. and even if you do have to wait a little bit during your visit, we’ve found Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza is always worth it!

Is Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza one of your favorite stops in Disney Springs? Please let us know with a comment!

NEWS: Planet Hollywood Has Opened Yet Again in Disney World

While Planet Hollywood was one of the first restaurants in Disney Springs to announce they’d be reopening on May 2oth, we were surprised to find the restaurant unexpectedly closed down last week!

Planet Hollywood

But while walking off our Birthday Cake Shake from the newly reopened Vivoli il Gelato in Disney Springs today, we found out Planet Hollywood is open once AGAIN!

Planet Hollywood reopened at 4PM today without any visible reason why the restaurant had mysteriously closed its doors.

Planet Hollywood Meal

The Disney Springs’ website was a little glitchy and still showing the restaurant as being closed, but we can assure ya it’s now open.

Swing by Planet Hollywood from 4PM to 9PM on weekdays or 11:30AM to 9PM on Saturday and Sundays for a B-A-N-A-N-A-S Boozy Milkshake once more!

Did you think it was strange that Planet Hollywood closed down after its initial reopening? Let us know what you thought in the comments below!
