Maleficent Cake Jar Recipe

Maleficent Cake Jar

“The princess shall indeed grow in grace and beauty, beloved by all who know her. But, before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday…she should enjoy cake!”

Even though Maleficent didn’t say the last part of this quote in her curse, we think she would be in better spirits if cake was offered at Princess Aurora’s birthday celebration. Today, we are showing you how to create this incredible dessert based on everyone’s favorite Disney villain!

Ingredients

1.) Cake

  • Vanilla Cake Mix
  • Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 6 eggs
  • Purple food coloring

2.) Icing

  • 1 pound unsalted butter
  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
  • Electric green food coloring

3.) Toppings

  • Black fondant
  • Purple sprinkles

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine vanilla cake mix, 1 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, and 3 eggs into a large bowl. Add purple food coloring and stir until combined.
  3. Combine chocolate cake mix, 1 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, and 3 eggs into a large bowl.
  4. Scoop 1/4 cup of purple cake batter into mason jar. Add 1/4 cup of chocolate cake batter. Continue to alternate layers of purple and chocolate cake batter until mason jar is half full.
  5. Fill a baking pan with a thin layer of water. Place cake jar on pan. Bake cake jar at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes.
  6. While cake jar is baking, roll fondant into 1″ balls. Shape into horns.
  7. To prepare mint icing, combine unsalted butter, powdered sugar, milk, and peppermint extract into a bowl. Add electric green food coloring.
  8. Once cake jars have cooled, pipe icing on top of the cake. Add purple sprinkles, and place two horns to finish the look.

The mason jar dessert tastes just as good as it looks! It’s a great dessert to bring to a Disney party.

How To Make Them

Paint the wooden cutouts and wooden dowels with a base coat of acrylic paint in colors that match the flower or heart signs from “it’s a small world.” Allow to dry completely. For any shapes that are not found already pre-cut (like petals, leaves, or small dots), the desired shape can be drawn onto thin basswood sheets and cut out with scissors.

Small dots can be punched out from the wood sheet using a hole punch. Paint any basswood cutouts with a base coat of the acrylic paint. Allow to dry completely. If more details are needed, use fine-tipped paintbrushes to add details atop the base coat of paint.

Another BIG Question About The Future Of Epcot in Disney World May Be Answered With This UPDATE

Epcot will reopen on July 15th with a BUNCH of new health and safety protocols.

Epcot

While guests can expect dining, shopping, and waiting in line to look different, a reported new union agreement suggests that World Showcase could have a BIG change as well.

One of the most unique parts about Epcot’s World Showcase (beyond all the food, of course!) is that each pavilion is staffed by cultural representatives from each country. These Cast Members help to immerse you in each country and can teach guests fun phrases and facts about that location!

Takumi-Tei Cast Members in Epcot’s Japan

But according to LaughingPlace.com, when Epcot reopens, these cultural representatives may be missing from World Showcase. A reported agreement between the Walt Disney Company and labor unions states that Cast Members who “do not meet the culturally authentic theming at Epcot may be temporarily assigned to work in positions which are otherwise reserved for cultural representatives.”

Rose and Crown Outside Bar

Disney previously suspended the cultural representatives program in March and furloughed non-essential  employees. And with travel restrictions in place around the world, it may be hard for some of these Cast Members to return to Orlando.

Mexico Pavilion

Of course, we will be sure to check out this situation once Epcot reopens (because situations can always change, especially in Disney World) and we will report back on our findings. What Epcot and the rest of Walt Disney World will look like upon reopening is yet to be seen, but be assured we’ll be there when it happens!

Are you planning on going to Walt Disney World when it reopens? Here are 5 things you NEED to know!

How do you feel about cultural representatives possibly missing from Epcot? Will that affect your enjoyment of the park? Let us know!

Chris Evans Confirms He Will No Longer Play Captain America in the MCU

Chris Evans Confirms He Will No Longer Play Captain America in the MCU. Recently, Chris Evans appeared on The Graham Norton Show and shared his time as Steve Rogers/Captain America is at an end. His primary reason being he doesn’t want to sour Cap’s “Happily Ever After” ending unless the appearance would add to his story in a constructive way.

When specifically asked if Avengers: Endgame was truly the end Evans responded, “Yes, I think it is,” Evans said. “It was a great run and we went out on such a high note that it would be risky to revisit it in my opinion. It was such a good experience and I think it’s better left that way.”

“It’d be a shame to sour that,” he said in reference to how Steve’s story wrapped up in Endgame. “I’m very protective of it. It was such a precious time, and jumping onto the movie was a terrifying prospect to me. I said no a bunch of times, and there’s a million and one ways it could have gone wrong. It almost feels like maybe we should let this one sit.”

As much as we will miss seeing Captain America on the big screen we are glad to know the character means more than a cash grab to Chris Evans and great care was given to do the character justice in the MCU. Which Marvel Movie featuring Captain America is your favorite? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
