NEWS! Universal Hollywood’s CityWalk Could Reopen as Soon as Mid-June

Universal Orlando’s CityWalk has officially re-opened back up to guests! And, the Universal Orlando theme parks plan to reopen on June 5th.

Universal Orlando Resort

Now while the east coast edition of Universal is well on its way to reopening, Universal Hollywood has not announced a reopening date for their theme park, shopping, or dining locations. But, we might have just spotted a hint.

According to theme park journalist, Carlye Wisel, Universal Hollywood could be re-opening as soon as mid-June!

Los Angeles County started to reopen retail businesses with curbside pickup while Orange County was recently cleared to enter Phase Two of California’s Reopening Plan.

Shanghai Disneyland Is Already Making Progress Less Than Two Weeks After Reopening!

Shanghai Disneyland has been re-opened for almost two weeks (can you believe it??).

©Disney

While the hotels and parks have been welcoming guests again, Shanghai Disneyland has implemented multiple health and safety protocols to keep guests and Cast Members safe — including Health QR Codes, physical distancing, mask requirements, and more.

However, when the parks re-opened, there were a limited amount of attractions available to guests.

Parades and fireworks have been halted for the time being, along with play areas and theater shows. However, Shanghai Disneyland has still brought magic to the guests with the Mickey and Friends Express character processional several times during the day. They have also managed to promote social distancing while hosting the Evening Magical Moments — which lights up the Enchanted Storybook Castle and plays music at dusk daily.

But, since the parks have been open for a few weeks now, Shanghai Disneyland has started to slowly reopen other guest experiences. Although the park announced that they would be doing distanced character shows and entertainment, @gourmetdyy has been giving us a look at things available in Shanghai Disneyland currently!

Custodians at Shanghai Disneyland are bringing joy to guests through their water art, incredibly detailed paintings, and much more!

Since Shanghai Disneyland originally opened with limited attractions and restaurants, there are signs that Disney is progressing with reopening by bringing back select shows and dining locations. Some of the places you can visit now include Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack’s Stunt Spectacular, Frozen: A Sing-Along Celebration, and Tribal Table restaurant.

While Disney World and Disneyland may not be open open yet, Shanghai Disneyland’s health and safety protocols have allowed them to already progress their reopening in under two weeks. At this time, the only Disney attraction open in the U.S. is Disney Springs, but Disney World is set to propose a reopening date by next week. We will continue to keep you updated on Disney Parks news here!

What are you looking forward to doing the most when the Disney Parks re-open? Let us know in the comments below!

Try this at home Sleeping beauty donut cake

Sleeping Beauty donut cake

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream.

For some of us, eating a donut cake does sound like a dream come true! If you watched the animated Sleeping Beauty film, then you will recall the lopsided cake the three fairy godmothers baked for Aurora. Today, we’ll show you how to bake your own Sleeping Beauty Donut Cake at home.

Ingredients

  • Donuts (store-bought or homemade)
  • White candy melts
  • 2 Cups powdered sugar
  • 2 1/2 Tbsps milk
  • Dash of vanilla extract
  • Blue and yellow gel food coloring
  • Vanilla frosting
  • Long pretzels logs
  • Dark chocolate, melted
  • Marshmallows
  • Pink candles

Additional Items

  • Pink Candles
  • Toothpicks
  • Pastry brush
  • Piping Bags
  • Scissors

Directions

  1. Use your choice of plain store-bought or homemade donuts. If using homemade, ensure the donuts are completely cool before decorating. I used 8 homemade baked cake donuts in total.

  2. Melt the white chocolate. Dip the donuts in, and let them set

  3. To make the glaze, combine sugar, milk, and vanilla. Whisk until smooth. Add in blue gel food coloring until incorporated, then transfer into a piping bag. Snip a corner off. Then, pipe drips onto the donuts, smoothing the glaze out with a toothpick where needed. For the donut that is going on top, cover it completely with blue glaze.

  4. Use frosting or melted chocolate to secure the first donut onto the cake board or cutting board. Carefully stack the donuts.

  5. Combine yellow gel food coloring with vanilla frosting to create the yellow frosting. Add to a sturdy piping bag. Then, pipe on the yellow details on the top tier. You can use a dowel in the middle of the donut stack to hold them up if you wish.

6. To make the broomstick, use a long breadstick or pretzel stick and apply a layer of melted chocolate with a brush. When set, dip 1 end in melted chocolate and stick into a marshmallow on an angle so it’s leaning towards the donut tower. Stack another marshmallow underneath, attaching them together with melted chocolate.

 7. “Glue” the base of the marshmallow to the other side of the cake board with melted chocolate and wedge the “broomstick” between the top 2 donuts.

8. Combine more yellow gel food coloring with vanilla frosting to create a darker yellow frosting. Using this frosting, pipe long strands of icing onto the marshmallows to imitate the straw of the broom. Finish it off with a ring of piped dark chocolate approximately 3/4 of the way up.

9. Pipe small dollops of regular yellow frosting where the candles will go, then stick pink candles directly on top.

That’s it! This dessert would be a fantastic addition for a Disney birthday!

Wanna Know Where You Can Find Dole Whip (Kind of!) Near YOU?!

Each Disney snack has a special place in our hearts, buuuut you voted and ranked Dole Whip at the top of your lists!

Pineapple Dole Whip

Although we could eat three of them in the parks AND you can even make them at home from scratch, Dole Whips tend to see new twists throughout our time Disney. We’ve seen the Kakamora Float, lime Dole Whip, and even a Tajin Dole Whip (Spicy pineapple, anyone??). But, we spotted a new Dole Whip trend at a restaurant by our houses.

Whether Taco Bell is your go-to spot for a late night snack or you’re a MEGA Quesarito fan, you’re going to want to hop in your car and go there ASAP. While Taco Bell has rolled out the Pineapple Freeze Slush, now they’re mixing up the Pineapple Swirl Freeze Slush (AKA a Dole Whip Slushy).

Pineapple Whip Freeze

And, of course, we had to put this new version to the test (we’ll have a Dole Whip in any capacity right now). The Pineapple Whip Freeze is mixed up with pineapple slush on top and condensed milk on the bottom. We found it is actually pretty similar in taste to a Dole Whip, but the texture might throw you off a bit.

Dole Whip Slushy

The slushy part has a bite to it similar to a Baja Blast. While it’s a bit sweeter than Disney’s Dole Whip, the texture of Taco Bell’s frozen slush isn’t quite as creamy as the Disney treat. Pro tip: if you mix up the slushy and condensed milk parts of the drink, it helps a bit to make it smoother (we had to pop off the top and really get in there to mix it well). But, you’ll need to give it a little stir between sips, because the parts started to settle and separate after a bit.

Dole Whip Slushy

Although it might not be what we normally would expect from a Dole Whip (but how do you beat Dole Whip??), Taco Bell’s Pineapple Swirl Freeze is a great option when you’re really missing the famous pineapple treat! And, running to Taco Bell to get one of these slushies is just another excuse to stock up on a bunch of tacos while you’re at it. ?

What is your favorite kind of Dole Whip in the Disney Parks? Let us know in the comments below!
