The reopening of Disneyland has been rocky.

Downtown Disney’s World of Disney

The reopening date for the parks and resorts was announced, only to be delayed. Now, we know that Downtown Disney will be opening as planned (with a few changes!) on July 9th despite the suspension of indoor operations for several sectors in California counties.

Earlier today, California Governor Gavin Newsom mandated that all restaurants, wineries and tasting rooms, movie theaters, family entertainment centers, zoos, and museums and cardrooms in 19 counties, including Orange County, where Disneyland resides, must close their indoor operations. But that’s not stopping Downtown Disney.

According to People, Downtown Disney will be opening on July 9th, but all restaurants will only have outdoor seating. By making this change, Disney is able to open the shopping, dining, and entertainment complex while staying within the confines of the new government action.

New Picnic Punch now available at Starbucks in Disney Springs

New Picnic Punch now available at Starbucks in Disney Springs Starbucks Picnic Punch

If there’s one thing Starbucks knows how to do, it’s creating beautiful and tasty new drinks that everybody has to try (and Instagram!). Well, they’ve done it again! On our last trip to Disney Springs, we were lucky enough to try the colorful new Picnic Punch.

New Picnic Punch now available at Starbucks in Disney Springs

Picnic Punch starts off as a pineapple matcha drink and is topped with strawberry sweet cream cold foam. Wow, it’s pretty! It reminded us of a reversal of last year’s Millenial Falcon drink (a pink drink topped with matcha foam) and had that same level of refreshment. The initial flavor hit is strong with strawberry, which is sweet and fruity, then as the drink mixes, the tea flavor comes up more. The best part is definitely the cold foam where the taste of strawberry purée is clearest. But the whole beverage is refreshing and on the delicate side of Starbucks flavors.

It costs $7.40 before tax, so hopefully, you’ve been saving up some of those rewards from your morning fix. Whether you like coffee or not, this one is a great choice because it’s cool and light. However, if you really hate matcha or tea, steer clear. The matcha flavor gets strong towards the end.

The new Picnic Punch at @starbucks is super refreshing and a great beverage to try on your next trip to Disney Springs! It’s a pineapple matcha with strawberry purée cold foam. #disneysprings #waltdisneyworld #starbucks #disneyfood

Face Masks now Required in Anaheim Citywide anaheim face masks

Anaheim has now issued a citywide face mask requirement for when people are in public. The Anaheim requirement makes state guidance for wearing face coverings mandatory in Anaheim and went into effect yesterday, June 30.

The order requires the use of face masks:

  • At any healthcare setting
  • Using public transit or rideshare
  • At workplaces in common areas
  • For any food service, packaging or distribution
  • In any room or enclosed area where you’re unable to distance from those outside your own household.
  • Outside when within six feet of others

Those with special considerations are exempt, and face coverings are not required in certain situations:

  • Children younger than 2
  • Those with health, mental or developmental considerations
  • Those who face workplace risks from wearing a face covering
  • Medical treatments where removal is necessary
  • While eating or drinking
  • While exercising outdoors or indoors when distanced from others
  • While working outdoors when distanced
  • Those who are incarcerated

Disneyland will be following city and state guidelines when the theme parks reopen. All cast members and guests age 2 and older will be required to wear face masks when visiting the Disneyland Resort.
