Major League Soccer Coming to ESPN Wide World of Sports

Major League Soccer is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort! (And I know a BUNCH of people who just audibly cheered!) The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex will be the host location for the MLS is Back Tournament. This tournament will run from July 8 to August 11 and will include all 26 MLS clubs competing in a continuous schedule of 54 total matches that will take place nearly every day. These matches will actually count in the 2020 MLS regular season standings, and the tournament winner will earn a spot in the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League.

According to Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber, “The opportunity to have all 26 clubs in a controlled environment enables us to help protect the health of our players, coaches and staff as we return to play. We also recognize that the death of George Floyd and others has focused our country on issues of racial injustice, inequality and violence against black men and women. Together with our owners, players and staff, the League and its Clubs are deeply committed to creating meaningful and impactful programs to address these issues that have plagued our society for far too long.”

Unfortunately, fans won’t be able to watch this Major League Soccer tournament in person, due to coronavirus concerns. In fact, MLS players and staff will need to follow specific medical protocols, including regular testing, throughout the tournament. You can take a look at those protocols here. For those who actually would like to watch the matches, you’ll be able to find them on MLS partner networks.

The schedule will be as follows:

  • July 8: Group Stage begins
  • July 25-28: Round of 16
  • July 30-August 1: Quarterfinals
  • August 5-6: Semifinals
  • August 11: Final

Donald Duck Cupcake Recipe

Donald Duck Cupcake Recipe Donald Duck

Who gets stuck with all the bad luck?! No one, but Donald Duck!

We can remember this catchy tune being used in the introduction of Donald Duck’s classic cartoon shorts. Fortunately, Donald gets to enjoy being a lucky Duck this week! He first appeared on June 9, 1934. Today, we’ll show you how to make your very own Donald Duck cupcake so you can celebrate at home.

Ingredients

  • Batch of baked cupcakes
  • White frosting
  • Yellow Swedish Fish candies
  • Kitchen knife or scissors
  • Small black jellybeans
  • Tube of black decorating icing

Directions

  1. Frost the cupcakes, using the knife to pull the frosting up into a couple feathery peaks at the top of the head.
  2. For a duck bill, slice a yellow Swedish Fish candy in half lengthwise. Then press the two halves into the frosting, separating them slightly, at the very edge of the cupcake top (opposite the feathery frosting peaks).
  3. For eyes, press two black jellybeans into the frosting. Use the black decorating icing to pipe on curved eyebrows about 3/8 inch above the eyes.

Disney Details on Enhanced Cleaning Procedures

As a follow-up to the recent announcement about how Disney Resort hotels will have enhanced cleaning procedures upon reopening, we’re finally getting details on what that will entail.

Specifically, Disney will focus on 11 target areas:

  1. Door handles, pulls and knobs
  2. Light switches and controls
  3. Closet amenities (such as the in-room safe)
  4. Beverage area
  5. Bathroom fixtures and surfaces
  6. Bathroom amenities
  7. Thermostat and electric controls
  8. Bedding
  9. Electronic devices (including the germ magnet TV remote)
  10. Hard surfaces and flooring
  11. Cleaned and wrapped amenities

This enhanced cleaning will occur before you check in to your room. During your stay, you will get a light cleaning service (removal of trash/replenishment of towels).

Here’s an infographic from Disney showing their target area focus.

Major League Soccer teams to stay at Disney’s Swan & Dolphin Resort

Major League Soccer teams to stay at Disney’s Swan & Dolphin Resort Swan & Dolphin

We just shared the news that Major League Soccer is coming to Walt Disney World! All 26 Teams will be resuming their 2020 season at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex starting July 8th, but where will all of these players stay?

While this information wasn’t shared on the initial release we did some digging and found the information on the MLS website under their Health & Safety Protocols.

Here is the info:

In addition to the screenings and testing described above, an MLS task force has worked with leading experts to create guidelines and best practices to help reduce risk and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

These include:

  • Wearing face coverings/face masks;
  • Social distancing;
  • General hygiene (Ex. avoid touching face, washing hands frequently, avoid sharing food, bottles, towels or equipment);
  • Cleaning and sanitization (disinfecting surfaces).

The Walt Disney World Resort Swan and Dolphin Hotel will be providing enhanced cleaning of all venues and enforcing appropriate capacity-management and other social distancing guidelines.

So this sounds like to me that these MLS Players will be staying at Disney’s Swan & Dolphin Resort during their return.

Recently we shared the news that the Swan & Dolphin will be closed till the end of July but according to the tournament schedule, it can run up until the middle of August. So there is a good chance we might see the closure of the Swan & Dolphin even longer than July.

In case you missed the news NBA teams will be contained to three specific hotels at Walt Disney World with nightly COVID-19 testing.
