Disney Animals Social Media Account Transitions to New Name After Executive Retirement

The popular social media account previously managed by former Disney executive Dr. Mark Penning is undergoing a significant transition following his retirement from The Walt Disney Company. In a recent Instagram video, Penning announced that the platform will officially become known as @AnimalsAtDisney after he steps down from his role at Disney. Over the years, this highly followed account has served as a premier source for updates on animal births, conservation efforts, veterinary care advancements, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content from Walt Disney World Resort and other locations. Penning consistently used the platform to highlight the remarkable dedication of Disney’s animal care teams while sharing engaging visual content featuring thousands of unique animals under Disney’s stewardship. Despite the name change, Disney has confirmed that the core focus of the page will remain unchanged, with future posts continuing to spotlight Disney’s animals, animal care experts, conservation initiatives, and environmental stewardship efforts. This transition coincides with Penning’s retirement earlier this year and his new appointment as director of the North Carolina Zoo.
