Many young children feel anxious during MRI scans due to the intimidating environment and need to remain still for extended periods. Sixty-six percent of pediatric patients report feeling nervous, which can lead to re-scans and increased stress for both patients and medical staff. To address this issue, Disney partnered with Philips to integrate beloved animated characters into MRI machines across 87 countries worldwide. This initiative uses immersive lighting, sound, and visual elements featuring popular characters like Mickey Mouse, Marvel superheroes, and Star Wars favorites to create a more comforting experience. Hospitals in Europe and California have already seen significant improvements, with stress levels dropping by 43 percent and scan pauses decreasing by 63 percent among children aged six to ten. Disney provided the content at no cost to medical facilities, demonstrating their commitment to improving healthcare experiences for young patients through familiar and engaging storytelling.
