Rumors suggested that the highly anticipated Avatar experience at Disney California Adventure might have been cancelled, but Disney has officially confirmed the project remains in active development. The cancellation fears arose after Monsters Inc Mike and Sulley to the Rescue was extended into 2027 instead of closing early as originally planned. Disney released an updated roadmap graphic showing the Avatar Experience is still on their list of upcoming park attractions. The new California land will draw inspiration from Avatar: The Way of Water and future films, offering a unique storyline different from Florida’s Pandora World of Avatar. The attraction will feature advanced boat ride technology similar to Pirates of the Caribbean at Shanghai Disneyland. Construction will take over space in Hollywood Land while expanding into unused acreage beyond current park boundaries. Fans can expect more timeline updates during the upcoming D23 fan event where Disney often announces new park developments.
