Walt Disney Imagineering has officially extended a major construction permit for the upcoming Encanto attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The permit, filed for 610 DinoLand Drive, covers the transformation of the former Dino-Rama area into the new Tropical Americas land. This extension pushes the project timeline through May 19, 2027, providing additional time for the massive development work. It marks the third permit extension since late 2024, which is common for large-scale projects involving complex infrastructure and themed architecture. Recent construction milestones include the installation of the final steel beam for the ride building, with accelerated progress on queue areas and interior spaces. The attraction will be a ride-through experience following Antonio Madrigal as he receives his gift of communicating with animals. The broader Tropical Americas expansion will also feature a reimagined DINOSAUR ride and a new animal-themed carousel. Disney expects the entire land to open sometime in 2027, though an exact date remains unannounced.
