Disney has unveiled details about The Wetlands, a nature-inspired outdoor recreation area set to open at the new Disney Lakeshore Lodge in summer 2027. Located along Bay Lake shores, this expansive space will blend relaxation and adventure through themed play areas inspired by Pocahontas. Heron Shores offers climbing structures while Otter Springs provides interactive water play for younger guests. A lazy river called Daydream River winds through the area, allowing visitors to float leisurely while enjoying scenic views of the wetlands and lake. At the center lies Lakeside Lagoon, a zero-entry pool featuring a spiral waterslide, with Perspective Pond offering a quieter escape with whirlpool spa amenities. Walking paths throughout the Wetlands include educational details about local flora and fauna, honoring Disney storytelling traditions through design inspired by films like Bambi and Brother Bear. The resort will feature 967 guest rooms including waterfront Lake Houses with large windows showcasing natural materials and stunning lake views. Easy boat transportation to Magic Kingdom makes this upcoming destination one of Walt Disney World’s most unique resort experiences when it opens in summer 2027.
