Disney Names New Baby Giraffe Ivy at Animal Kingdom Park

Disney has announced the birth of a new Masai giraffe calf named Ivy at their Animal Kingdom park. Born in April, this baby giraffe weighed 120 pounds and measured nearly six feet tall upon arrival. The animal care team selected the name Ivy from a list of twelve tree-themed options, continuing the tradition where most giraffes are named after trees due to their leafy diet. Ivy will remain backstage until she is old enough to join her half-brother Tucker on the Kilimanjaro Safaris tour later this summer. Masai giraffes are an endangered species with only about 30,000 remaining in the wild, making each new birth significant for conservation efforts. The addition of Ivy to the herd helps maintain a healthy population and ensures future generations can thrive in their natural habitat at the park.
