Disney Parks See Low Crowds But High Attraction Downtime This Week

Recent data reveals that Disney parks are experiencing their slowest summer start since 2014, with crowd levels dropping significantly week after week. June saw an average crowd level of 2.8, and if trends continue, July could see even lower numbers around 2.5 or below. Despite the low crowds, visitors faced substantial attraction downtime throughout the parks this past week. Test Track at EPCOT had the worst performance with 29% unexpected downtime over seven days, while Hollywood Studios lost nearly 19% of its capacity on a single day due to mechanical failures. Magic Kingdom also struggled with multiple headliner attractions experiencing high downtime percentages during peak morning hours. Wait times increased slightly for popular rides like Flight of Passage and Rock n Roller Coaster as guests waited longer for available attractions. The upcoming July Fourth holiday weekend promises special fireworks shows at both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, though rain is forecasted for several days. Despite operational challenges, the overall low crowd levels make this an attractive time to visit if visitors can tolerate potential ride closures.
