Disney has announced a new animated fantasy series titled Journey, developed in collaboration with the Obamas’ production company Higher Ground. The show will be available exclusively on Disney+ and marks the first project for Higher Ground since its independence from Netflix. Created by Matt Munn, who previously worked on films like Spies in Disguise and Ferdinand, the story follows a young heroine named Journey whose home’s protective energy shield fails, forcing her to venture outside. Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, described the series as an epic adventure centered on resilience and self-discovery. Executive producers include Steve Loter and Jessie Dicovitsky, who expressed pride in partnering with Disney to create meaningful stories for families. The production builds on Higher Ground’s history of delivering engaging content through their previous animation portfolio.
