Disney is testing artificial intelligence and robotics for smarter character interactions and improved operational efficiency in its theme parks. During the 2026 Disney Accelerator Demo Day, the company showcased partnerships with five technology firms working on projects spanning filmmaking, robotics, and guest experiences. Collaborations include FieldAI’s autonomous navigation systems for robotic characters that can navigate challenging terrain and weather conditions, as well as backstage automation like Physical Intelligence’s robots preparing 3D glasses for cleaning teams. AI tools developed with Simile are being used to analyze guest preferences and enhance the vacation planning experience at Walt Disney World. Partners Promise and OpenArt also contributed to new industries with AI-assisted filmmaking and digital visual concepts for music videos, while five of the other partners are supporting theme park operations through 3D printing and animation workflows.
