Disney Experiences revealed a detailed physical model and concept art for an upcoming Avatar-themed destination at Disney California Adventure during the recent D23 fan event. This new land will differ significantly from the existing Pandora area at Walt Disney World by focusing on elements from Avatar: The Way of Water rather than the original 2009 film. The design features towering coastal rockwork with wave-like formations and bioluminescent flora that creates a glowing effect after dark. A flagship dynamic boat ride will serve as the centerpiece attraction, taking guests through Pandora’s waterways and alien forests while encountering sea creatures. Imagineers plan to redevelop the Hollywood Backlot area currently occupied by Monsters Inc Mike and Sulley to the Rescue ride for this expansion. Construction logistics are evolving but Disney confirms that behind-the-scenes work continues toward finalizing construction timelines and an official opening window for theme park fans.
