Disney World Closures and Construction Updates for August 2025

Disney World is entering an intense period of construction and closures beginning in August 2025, affecting multiple attractions, hotels, and dining locations across the resort. Major attractions including the Carousel of Progress, Liberty Square Riverboat, and Tom Sawyer Island have closed for refurbishment or permanent replacement, with a new Cars-themed area called Piston Peak taking over the Rivers of America area. Animation Courtyard is being transformed into The Walt Disney Studios land, featuring a phased opening that began in May 2025. Muppets Courtyard has been closed to make way for a new Monstropolis-themed area, with dining locations like PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s permanently shuttered. Multiple hotels including Disney’s Saratoga Springs, Yacht and Beach Club, Fort Wilderness, and Animal Kingdom Lodge are undergoing projects. The Grand Floridian’s porte cochere construction has been extended through early 2027, and Bay Lake Tower will see work through late 2027. Several dining venues have closed including Yachtsman Steakhouse and Jellyrolls, though some have announced reopening dates. Guests are advised to monitor these developments to avoid disruptions during their stays.
