Disney World Railroad Closing for Refurbishment in September

The Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom will temporarily close on September 28th for a refurbishment period. This historic attraction, which has been operating since the park’s opening day, is expected to reopen on October 30th. The railroad features four steam locomotives with five passenger cars each, capable of transporting approximately 365 people per train. Currently operating in shuttle mode between Main Street USA and Fantasyland due to construction in Frontierland, the ride offers guests a scenic way to traverse the park without walking. While other attractions like Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are undergoing significant updates, this railroad closure appears to be a routine maintenance period rather than a permanent change.
