Disneyland Autopia Faces Gas Engine Phase-Out Deadline by 2027

Disneyland must transition its classic Tomorrowland Autopia attraction from gas-powered vehicles to electric ones by February 1, 2027. This deadline was established through an agreement with the California Air Resources Board following a penalty for uncontrolled emissions from Honda engines used in the ride. Officials confirmed that work is already underway to design and test a fully electric prototype for the historic attraction. While the conversion aims to align with the resort’s sustainability goals, no official reopening date has been announced yet. The gas-powered cars have been operating since Disneyland opened in 1955, making this transition significant for one of the park’s original experiences. This move supports the broader commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2030 through various eco-friendly initiatives across the property.
