Disney’s Pueblo Esperanza Land Gets New Playground and Major Attractions

Disney has filed a new construction permit for Pueblo Esperanza at Animal Kingdom, signaling progress on the Tropical Americas land. The permit indicates that a new playground is being built where the Cretaceous Trail once stood, replacing the previous Boneyard area. Contractor Landscaping Structures Inc., which specializes in playground design, is handling this project. Beyond the play area, the expansion will feature a quick-service restaurant, carousel, and two major attractions inspired by Indiana Jones and Encanto. The Encanto ride will take guests into Antonio’s room as it transforms into a rainforest after he receives his gift. Meanwhile, the Indiana Jones attraction will follow a new story about exploring a Maya temple and encountering mythical creatures. A separate playground inspired by Alice in Wonderland is also being developed at Hollywood Studios for summer opening. Animal Kingdom’s Pueblo Esperanza is expected to open sometime in 2027, with more details anticipated at D23 in August 2026.
