Hazmat Emergency Near Disneyland Causes Evacuations and Safety Concerns

A failing chemical tank at an aerospace facility in Garden Grove, California, is posing a potential explosion threat approximately five miles from Disneyland. Orange County officials have issued evacuation orders for thousands of residents in the area, raising concerns among park visitors about safety and potential closures. Despite the proximity, authorities confirm that Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Angel Stadium are not currently at risk if an explosion occurs. Firefighters are actively cooling the tank containing 7,000 gallons of toxic methyl methacrylate, which has developed a crack that may prevent a catastrophic blast. The Disneyland Resort remains open, though guests are advised to check local guidance for possible road closures and traffic disruptions. While officials warn the situation remains fluid, the best-case scenario appears to be a contained leak rather than an explosion. Park staff and visitors are urged to exercise patience and courtesy, as many Cast Members may be personally affected by the emergency in their communities.
