Major Food Companies Eliminate Artificial Dyes From Products Nationwide

The American food industry is experiencing a significant transformation as Red Dye No. 3 faces a nationwide ban in food and beverages. Major manufacturers like General Mills and WK Kellogg are proactively removing all artificial dyes from their products, even beyond the legal requirement. General Mills has already eliminated artificial colors from its U.S. cereals including Lucky Charms and Trix, replacing them with natural alternatives derived from fruits, vegetables, and spices. The company reports that approximately ninety percent of its current American product line no longer contains artificial dyes, with a complete transition planned by 2027. Retailers such as Target and Walmart are also responding to consumer demand by committing to remove artificial colors from their store brands and cereal selections.
