New Pirates of the Caribbean Animatronic Malfunctions During Holiday Crowds

Disneyland’s newly installed projection-mapped pirate animatronic in Pirates of the Caribbean experienced a significant technical failure on July 4th. The advanced figure, which was introduced during a two-month refurbishment reopening on June 26th, completely froze in B-Mode mode during holiday celebrations. Park visitors discovered the hyper-realistic character had lost all digital effects and appeared as a static physical skeleton instead of its intended animated form. Disney maintenance teams quickly resolved the issue by July 5th, restoring the projection mapping technology and allowing the ride to resume normal operations. The malfunction sparked widespread discussion among theme park enthusiasts who have debated the new animatronic’s design since its debut. While some purists appreciate the temporary return to a classic static skeleton, others remain excited about this technological advancement for future dark rides. The hybrid platform represents Disney Imagineering’s commitment to reducing maintenance needs through innovative 3D-printed facial shells and projector tracking systems.
