Oriental Land Company has announced exciting plans for a new Disney-branded cruise ship that will operate in Japanese waters under the subsidiary Disney Cruise Line Japan. This innovative venture allows visitors to seamlessly combine their Tokyo Disney Resort theme park experience with an enchanting sea voyage. The vessel, inspired by the popular Disney Wish, features approximately 1,250 staterooms and will accommodate up to 4,000 passengers alongside a crew of 1,500 members. Currently being constructed at Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, this project represents a significant investment totaling around $315 million USD. The ship is scheduled to launch in late 2028 and begin year-round service by early 2029, flying the Japanese flag from Tokyo International Cruise Terminal. Designed with regional travel habits in mind, the cruise will primarily offer short 2- to 4-night itineraries perfect for guests visiting Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. The new venture aims to attract domestic families, younger travelers, and international tourists visiting Tokyo, with projected annual passenger numbers exceeding 400,000 once fully operational.
