A massive scale model of Piston Peak National Park was unveiled at the 2026 D23 Expo, showcasing the upcoming replacement of Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island in Magic Kingdom. The detailed model reveals two new Cars-themed attractions set outside Radiator Springs, featuring a mountain rally race and a secondary flat ride. Imagineers emphasized that the design draws inspiration from Rocky Mountain National Park, incorporating lush landscapes, rushing rapids, and numerous water features to create a natural environment. Special attention was given to preserving sightlines from Liberty Square and mitigating noise pollution through strategic landscape buffers and track design. The project aims to win over skeptics by demonstrating how the new area will integrate seamlessly with Frontierland while maintaining the park’s cohesive aesthetic.
