Disney has announced that the Play Disney Parks app will be discontinued starting September 16th, ending an era of interactive park experiences. The application powered numerous games and activities at both Disneyland and Disney World locations across the country. Popular features included Star Wars Datapad, Batuu Bounty Hunters, and DuckTales World Showcase Adventure which allowed guests to discover hidden details throughout the parks. While some elements like Batuu Bounty Hunters will continue through MagicBand+ technology, other experiences will disappear completely with the app shutdown. Disney has not yet confirmed whether any of these interactive adventures will be preserved in alternative formats after the retirement date.
