Six New Construction Permits Filed for Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Construction progress on the upcoming Tropical Americas land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has accelerated with six new permits filed by Walt Disney Imagineering. These permits, submitted on June 2, authorize Whiting-Turner to undertake general construction work across several former DinoLand U.S.A. locations including gift shops and dining areas. Rather than demolishing existing structures, many will be re-themed and integrated into the new Latin American-inspired land. Restaurantosaurus is specifically slated to transform into a hacienda-style restaurant within Pueblo Esperanza village. This latest batch of permits follows electrical permits from earlier in spring, indicating simultaneous work across multiple project areas. The Tropical Americas land is scheduled to open in 2027 and will feature an Encanto-inspired attraction, carousel, themed playground, and reimagined DINOSAUR ride. With construction activity increasing throughout the site, the transformation from a dinosaur theme park to a vibrant Latin American adventure destination is well underway.
