Spaceship Earth at EPCOT A Journey Through Communication History

Spaceship Earth has stood as a defining landmark at Walt Disney World and EPCOT for over four decades. Originally inspired by the United States Pavilion at Expo 67, the geodesic sphere was designed to represent humanity’s communication history. The attraction opened in 1982 with narration by Walter Cronkite, sponsored by the Bell System. Over the years, it underwent several major refurbishments, including updates in 1986, 1994, and 2007. Each update reflected changes in sponsorship and technology, with narration provided by figures like Jeremy Irons and Dame Judi Dench. A planned 2020 refurbishment aimed to shift the theme from communication to the universal human experience, but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, the attraction remains a beloved symbol of EPCOT, though fans continue to speculate about future changes.

SEEKING: A daring soul to share a spooky adventure with. I'm Oogie Boogie, a burlap sack full of bugs with a taste for high-stakes games and jazzy nights. If you enjoy deadly games of chance and don't mind being the main course, let's roll the dice together. No Jack Skellington types, please—this is a private party.

I also enjoy Halloween, and long walks in the graveyard.
