Disney World Castle

In an interview with CNBC, Orlando Mayor Demings states that Disney World will submit reopening plans to the Orange County Task Force next week.

“Disney has given an indication that next week, they will submit their plans, and once they do, then we will schedule that for a full briefing before our Economic Recovery Task Force as well. So at this point, it’s an undefined time or date, but we do look forward to seeing that sometime next week.”

Earlier today Universal Studios Orlando submitted their reopening plans to the Orange County Task Force with a projected date of June 5th. You can see the complete plans here.

We should have a better idea when Disney World is expected to open when they submit their reopening plan sometime next week!

Disneyland Update Offers Glimpse of Changes Once the Park Reopens

disneyland

The Disneyland website recently updated its Resort Operations page to show some of the changes that might happen once the parks reopen. As of today there still is no set reopening date for the resort but some clues were offered as to what we can expect when that does happen.

The site states:

“Upon reopening, certain Disneyland Resort theme parks, hotels, restaurants and other locations may be limited in capacity and subject to restricted availability or even closure based on guidance from health experts and government officials. Furthermore, certain attractions, experiences, services and amenities will be modified, have limited availability or remain closed. Park admission and offerings are not guaranteed.”

It wasn’t stated if guests will have their temperature checked and/or be required to wear face coverings while at the resort but seeing how Disney Springs is operating right now, we can bet those will be implemented at Disneyland as well.

No details about what rides or attractions might remain closed were offered. Disney said it will provide more information as it becomes available. Again, there’s no official word on when any part of the resort will reopen, but hotel reservations can be made for dates starting July 1st.

We will continue to update our readers as more information becomes available to us!

NBA looking at Orlando/Disney World as ‘clear frontrunner’ to resume season

NBA resume season

The 2019-2020 NBA season came to an abrupt halt in mid-March this year. It seemed the season would not be finished given the pandemic. However, there’s renewed hope that a solution is at hand. Sources in the league have told The Athletic that the NBA is looking at Orlando to finish the 2020 basketball games at Walt Disney World.

The Athletic’s duo of Sam Amick and Shams Charania say that NBA sources tell them how Walt Disney World is the current frontrunner for the rest of the season. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, this would be an interesting development for the basketball league.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has previously mentioned his idea of seeking a “campus environment” to utilize for the remaining games. Their bubble-isolation plan would enable teams to gather in one place and help players follow safety protocols.

Of course, the league would have to decide whether they would continue with the same list of remaining games or if they would shorten it to get to playoff games. Several players have confirmed their interest in going forward, but it’s up to the league officials to reach a set date to return. Health and safety are the primary concerns, but it would be quite thrilling to see basketball resume at Disney World!
