Rumored: ‘Solo’ Series Coming to Disney+ After Trending Online

Rumored: ‘Solo’ Series Coming to Disney+ After Trending Online. Over the last year the hashtag #MakeSolo2Happen has been spreading like wildfire online. Star Wars fans who protest the film while in theaters have seemly changed their minds about Solo: A Star Wars Story, since it has appeared on streaming services and released on DVD and Digital.

Since the films release, many fans have come out to say that the film was not as horrible as they imagined it to be. In fact, some are regretting missing the chance to see the film in theaters due to protesting the casting choices, over saturation of Star Wars films in theaters at the time, and for the lack of faith in the Star Wars franchise to tell a story about pre-existing characters.

So what does this mean for Solo: A Star Wars Story? The new found fandom has been pushing for a sequel and they have a great idea about how it should be done. Though the film performed poorly in theaters, it seems to be very popular on streaming services such as Netflix. With Disney launching their own streaming service this November called Disney+, fans believe a spin-off film or series is in order. Maybe with less attention on Han Solo, specifically, but incorporating other characters from the film in new adventures during the time before A New Hope.

Lucasfilm and Disney have been hard at work to bring an untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series to the streaming service that will take place between, Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, meaning there is a chance one of these characters could also appear in the new series, since the timelines could cross.

The studios are also working on a third season for The Mandalorian with season 2 scheduled to release in Oct 2020, untitled ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series and a ‘Cassian Andor’ series. Recent reports also indicate several new Star Wars projects are in the pipelines for Lucasfilm but details are being kept under wraps for now.

What are your thoughts on a Solo: A Star Wars Story spin-off? Do you love the idea or are you completely against it? What other Star Wars Stories would you like to see come to Disney+? Josh Gad Hints at New Music from Alan Menken for ‘Gaston and LeFou’ Disney+ Series

Josh Gad Hints at New Music from Alan Menken for ‘Gaston and LeFou’ Disney+ Series. Though Disney has yet to confirm the series, THR reported that Disney has ordered a 6-episode musical prequel series for Beauty and the Beast focused on the characters of Gaston and LeFou. The live-action film, released in 2017, grossed over $1 billion at the global box office and won over audiences world wide despite initial concerns over adapting the animated feature film into a live-action film.

Josh Gad recently shared a cryptic tweet with a photo of his performance as LeFou along with the caption: “This week I may or may not have hears a few new [Alan Menken] songs for something in the works and I may or may not be quaking with excitement.”

At the helm of the ‘Beauty and the Beast‘ prequel series are veteran Disney writers, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. If those names sound familiar that’s because they are the writers for ABC’s hit television series Once Upon a Time. The pair has had a bit of experience writing Beauty and the Beast related content with that story being an integral part of the series and a major arc of redemption for the character Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle).

Both Josh Gad (LeFou) and Luke Evans (Gaston) are set to reprise their roles for the series, with rumors that Emma Watson (Belle) and Dan Stevens (Beast/Prince Adam) may appear in guest appearance roles. It is currently unknown if other cast members such as Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Kevin Klein (Maurice), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts), Ian McKellan (Cogsworth), and others will join the 6-episode series. Previously rumored to return is Oscar winning composer and Disney Legend Alan Menken, and it looks like Gad himself is confirming our suspicions that Menken will be composing the soundtrack for the series and it will incorporate musical numbers just like the live-action film.

THR reports that Kitsis, Horowitz, and Gad will be writing and producing the series for Disney+. No other details are available at this time. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co for all things Disney+!

Original Creator Wants to Make a ‘Gargoyles’ Live-Action Film with Jordan Peele

Original Creator Wants to Make a ‘Gargoyles‘ Live-Action Film with Jordan Peele. Not too long ago, Get Out director and Toy Story 4 star, Jordan Peele, pitched the idea of a live-action film adaption of the 90’s cult classic animated series, Gargoyles.

According to the original series creator, Greg Weisman, Disney listened to Peele’s pitch, but never responded with a formal decision. Weisman also expressed heavy interest in working with Jordan should Disney decide to move forward with rebooting the franchise in any capacity.

“I think it’s accurate that he was interested, but I can’t speak to how far those conversations went,” the writer shared, “My understanding — not inside information, just my understanding — is that he expressed an interest in the property. And Disney didn’t say no. But by not saying yes, that answers the question. You know, they didn’t want to say no to Jordan Peele, but they also didn’t want to say yes to Gargoyles. So it just didn’t go anywhere.”

“I’d like to think — I don’t know this, I want to make that clear — that he’d still be interested in doing something with it if a new opportunity arose. I can’t say for sure if that’s true, I have no idea. But I would hope so. I’m a huge fan of his,” Weisman added. “Should he read this article, I would love to work with him. But I don’t know how realistic that is.”

If it wasn’t enough that a production team is ready and willing to create a reboot of the pop cult franchise even the series lead voice actor, Keith David (Goliath), would love to reprise his role should Disney decide to take the pitch from Peele and Weisman.

“[We’ve wondered] why we haven’t come back to a reboot,” Keith shared with ComicBook. “I mean, I would love nothing more than to revisit Goliath. You know, he was absolutely one of my very, very, very, very favorite characters. I’ve always maintained that when I grow up, I want to be like Goliath.”

Not familiar with the animated series? You can read the synopsis below:

“A clan of heroic night creatures pledge to protect modern New York City as they did in Scotland one thousand years earlier. In the Dark Ages, there was a race of heroic warrior monsters known as Gargoyles. These creatures existed as stone during the day, but become flesh and blood at night.”

Gargoyles is currently available to stream via Disney+.

Would you like to see a live-action Gargoyles film? Or would you prefer a rebooted animated series? What is your favorite memory of the original animated series? We would love to hear your thoughts and stories in the comments.

Hey Now! Hey Now! A New Lizzie McGuire Series is Coming to Disney+

Hilary Duff will be reprising the role as Lizzie in an all-new Lizzie McGuire series from Terri Minsky coming to Disney+!

It’s only day one of Disney’s D23 Expo and we are already jaws to the floor with all the exciting news that has come from the panels so far. First, Robert Downey Jr., Christina Aguilera, Bette Midler, and more took the stage as honorees of the highly-acclaimed Disney Legends Award. Next, we got a glimpse at what’s to come from Disney+, and We. Are. Shook.

Hillary Duff

After casually announcing that Ewan McGregor will return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new series from Lucasfilm, or that Marvel Studios is developing three new live-action series for the service, our 2000s-obsessed hearts burst with nostalgia as we learned that Hilary Duff will be reprising the role as Lizzie in an all-new Lizzie McGuire series from Terri Minsky coming to Disney+. (This is where animated Lizzie comes in and says, “Hold the phone. What?!”)

That’s right. Hilary Duff stepped onto the stage to surprise the audience and made the announcement herself.
