Tampa International Airport has introduced renovated automated shuttles connecting Terminals A and C to the Main Terminal. The new Innovia APM 300 R shuttle cars feature improved lighting, video information screens, and doors equipped with obstacle detection technology. This marks the third generation of automated shuttles at the airport since it opened in 1971. TPA is also the first airport globally to pair its shuttles with Alstom’s proprietary operating system and new electrical running gear. Upgrades for Terminal E are expected by year end, with future plans for Terminals F as well. The airport recently ended a trial of the TSA Gold+ program before the national government discontinued it nationwide.
