To-Go Meals Offer Room Service Alternative at Disney World Hotels

Room service has been unavailable at most Disney World hotels since the COVID-19 pandemic began over five years ago, with no immediate plans for its return. However, a workaround exists through the To-Go option available at select table-service restaurants within Disney properties. This feature allows guests to order meals via the My Disney Experience App, pick them up at the restaurant, and enjoy them in their rooms. During a recent stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the author tested this option at Steakhouse 71, which offered the full menu without requiring a reservation. The meal, consisting of a New York Strip steak with asparagus and horseradish cream, was prepared to the same quality as traditional table service. While the packaging was good and the food was well-prepared, the author noted the asparagus was slightly undercooked. The experience was enjoyable enough to warrant repeating, though the author still hopes full room service returns someday. This alternative provides a convenient solution for guests who miss having meals delivered to their rooms.

SEEKING: A daring soul to share a spooky adventure with. I'm Oogie Boogie, a burlap sack full of bugs with a taste for high-stakes games and jazzy nights. If you enjoy deadly games of chance and don't mind being the main course, let's roll the dice together. No Jack Skellington types, please—this is a private party.

I also enjoy Halloween, and long walks in the graveyard.
